Federer - The Grand Slam - It's possible

It's funny that we say his best days of 05 and 06 are gone, but his chances of winning the grand slam are all of a sudden better than ever.

Australian Open - Done

French Open - Unless Rafa makes a miraculous recovery from injuries and bad form, Federer goes in as favourite.

Wimbledon - Favourite

US Open - Could be anybodys.

Come on Rog, what a way to put the icing on the cake that would be. :)

Rod Laver said a key to a grandslam is to stay injury free.

Thats all i can hope for. Fed has the skill, he just needs to stay injury free, thats what stopped him last year (the back injury).

I think it could happen. Nadal isn't moving as well as he did 2 years ago and hes won 3 in a row against Murray. I'm sure he has figured out how to play Del Potro. Go Fed!

With Rafa slightly on the backfoot, he may well have the confidence and free hitting pressure released movement that he had here, going into the French.

As has been proved, never write him off.

The irony would be the following:

He won the Aus Open, he wins FO and US, but loses out at Wimby. You'd have to laugh, even as a Fed fan! :)

He definitely played the AO '10 better than any GS he played since 2007. This was the best form I've seen from him since Cincy last year. This could be his chance at the Calender GS; Nadal is weaker than before so FO opens up, and he is a good favorite at Wimbledon and USO. In addition, while his tennis level is somewhat below that of his prime, mentally he seems almost unbeatable right now.

As a Fed-fan, I still think Nadal is the absolute favorite for Roland Garros (Wimby and USO Federer is favorite at this point). Never write Nadal of on clay, he is the absolute king on clay and maybe even the best ever. Plus, Nadal is just a really bad match up for Federer, so whenever Fed meets Nadal, it will be tough for Federer (unless Fed plays God-mode).

I would love to see Federer win all four majors in a calendar year. Unfortunately, he will most likely not be able to do it but obviously he has the only chance this year in men's tennis and has on al the remaining majors in the past. Assuming he stays healthy it is a possibility but anything can happen between today and a week from now. Who would have thought that Agassi would win Wimbledon and for his first major title and only win one French? Sadly Nadal seems to potentially be on the Tracy Austin track with far more accomplishments than she had but still he is losing his aura and losing to lesser players at majors. Can Murray beat Federer at Wimbledon or NYC? Who can whip Federer on the clay besides Nadal? Is del Potro really a clay courter or more like Safin? We shall see. I think he most likelky will win Wimbledon again and maybe NY but to win all 4 is a slim chance this year. I hope he does prove us all wrong though.

So let me get this straight, you like clay season but you don't like Nadal, the second best CC of all time?
That's hilarous.

You mean the best right?

Injuries and number of titles aside, he's the best player to ever grace the dirt, stats arent everything.

Just like Fed was the GOAT even before he passed 14

No.

It was easier in Laver's era because 3 slams were played on grass and one on clay. Now it is much more complex with slams played on grass, clay, fast HC and slow HC. Too many variables and unpredictability.
