I usually love watching Roger play. I hate these B- performances from him, whatever the reason (slow surface, lack of match practice, good opponents). At the end of the day, its good tennis that is worth watching and Roger is winning really ugly right now.

Unless he can find his A game soon, this AO will go to the other deserving contenders who find the slower surface to their liking (Nadal, Djoko). In fact, I think Blake has the best chance to change their head-to-head record when they meet in the quarters, going by how they're individually playing.

What was up with those brain farts in the tie-break? I loved those camera shots of Berdych's coach after shanking those drop shots into the net.

I was also curious on why P-Mac kept saying these courts play slow while others say they play like hard courts.

Haha, he is a SportsCenter anchor who knows nothing about tennis. I am actually surprised that he knows Nadal's name.

same here. and it took Neil Everett about 10 seconds (not kidding) just to say Marin Cilic's last name and when he finally did he pronounced it CHEEY LEACH

Federer´s game isn´t convincing yet but of course he played better than in his last match (the worst he has played in a major as the no.1).
He is being easily frustrated, there is something negative in his body language even when he is winning. He is putting a lot of pressure on himself in these matches because he knows he is not playing good.
Of course he can raise his level from now and Blake shouldn´t be a trouble for him but if he plays Djokovic in the semifinals he will definitely need to play better. Djokovic is being the most convincing player of the tournament so far and if he has grown up mentally in the big matches I give him a good chance to beat Federer if Federer doesn´t play better than this.

Federer, for some odd reason, doesn't look happy on the court. I don't know what's up with him.

Finally I was able to view this match "semi-live". I noticed that Federer had a bit of an issue with Berdych's heavy ball and serve - unable to really put in attacking shots as he would have liked. You have to give credit for Berdych holding his service games for the first set, and Federer definately didn't want this to become another 5 setter.

Federer knew that the opportunities he took advantage of were crucial and seemed to be pushing himself to get "into the game" and maintain a high level of play so he could get this match done as quickly as possible - especially with Berdych dangerously close to pushing the match to a 4th or 5th set.

Another miserable choke from Berdych! He could have won the second set...that is if he wanted (believed) to. This pathetic match reminded me of Baghdatis-Fed match in Cincinnati. That's a good reason these two players are outside the top ten.

I agree with that. I think if Federer meets Djokovic it will be a 5 set thriller because Djokovic is playing pretty well. Djokovic has all the ingredients to match Federer, so Federer would have to raise his current game.

IT was soo frustrating watching Berdych just throw away break points! He's miserable..I keep on waiting from him to break out of this mediocre shell but he just keeps up coming up short, just like that horrible attempt of a drop shot on break point. He lost in straight sets with basically 3 bad plays each set! Amazing

well imo, in his match against berdych he wasnt' playing as well as he could. he missed 2 or 3 crucial points where he was on the run and hitting a short sharp angle crosscourt forehand. normally he makes all of those but he didn't seem to get that many in in his match with berdych.

So no, I can't see Berdych troubling Federer at all in this match; maybe a tie-breaker for one of the 3 sets but that would be it for the Czech.

Didn't I say there would be a tie-break and 3 sets?...
