Fed in 3. This will be very anti-climactic. No drama here. Look for a great match between Youzhny and Tsonga. Also Ferrero vs Ferrer. Both will go 5 sets.

More than likely Fed in three. Unless Fed is still feeling it from his match against Tipsy, or Berdych can get his head together for a big match.

He will probably take it in three, four maximum. Don't see anything special from Berdych to give trouble to Federer. That's what I thought about Janko too though, and look what almost happened......

I think you guys are vastly underestimating Berdych here. This will definitely be a very tough match for Roger . If he wins it in three he will certainly be at his best which I'm pretty sure he won't be.. I think he'll win in a very close 5 setter.

Berdych, one of the most overhyped players in the game today. No way Federer does not come out firing after his last match, in which case it will really be ugly for Berdych. 3 and out, easy for Federer.

I think Roger loses a set, but I think we start to see Slam Fed show up. If he's paying any attention, he knows that Nadal looks ridiculous and has an easy path to the final. Federer will have to be on top of his game to earn Slam #13.

I agree it will probably be tighter people are predicting. Last time they played on a hard court, which is Berdych's best surface, Berdych won, even though he was only 19 at the time -- not the player he is today, and Fed was already at the peak of his powers. Maybe Federer had a bad day. I didn't see the match.

Their next four matches were on clay or grass, and Federer won rather easily. But the last one, in Davis Cup last year, was on carpet, and it was tight, with the first two sets going to tiebreaks.

So if Berdych plays to his potential or even near it, I don't see this as a walkover for Federer at all.

I suspect this will be Federer in 3 or 4. The last time they played on Hard courts was the 2004 Olympics, which I didn't think even counted in a players head to head. Since then Federer has won their last 5 meetings, twice on grass, twice on clay and once on carpet.

After Federer's last match he has to be the heavy favourite, that will have boosted him so much and now he'll feel invincible because even way below par and against a guy playing the match of his life he still game through.

His forehand has tremendous pace and power at the USO he was making even lighter work of Roddick than Federer and was ill so subsequently had to pull out. I'm sure he's got even better since then. People mention Murray, Young , but Berdych seems to be someone people have almost forgotten.

They forget him since he is overrated. He has nowhere near the potential of Gasquet or Murray, and will never be even close to as good as Nadal or Djokovic. He is worth forgetting, he is talked about too much as it is. Last year at Wimbledon there was all this stupid hype he would be in the final and he struggled to make the quarters and then was whooped by Nadal. He has already been crushed in the 4th round of slams multiple times by Federer and even Blake. It is about time the hype machine of this career 11-20 player dies off for good.

I agree 100%. If I may add, I think Berdych will come out with no fear and it could be a struggle.

I agree that Fed will win but that is stupid reasoning. A 4 and a half hour match does not help and I don't think Fed has problems with confidence.

Don't underestimate how much Federer wants to win this, it would give him 13 slams, one shy of Sampras's record. Against Djokovic he'll be at his best and it'll take a very good match from Djokovic to come away with a win.

I agree... I don't think Djokovic will win the match b/c Federer really wants to win this one...And he will try his best

Fed in 3. Berdych doesn't move well. When was the last time a poor mover has beaten Fed? I'm pretty sure it didn't happen in 06 or 07. Djokovic seems like the biggest threat to Fed at the moment, especially since he apparently gave Tipsy some advice that worked out. Of course, I'm curious what that advice was: play the best tennis of your life, run everything down, hit to his bh, and hit the lines on important points. Pretty good advice, I guess.

Nalbandian isn't exactly the best mover but has the best backhand in the game. Berdych though can hit a pretty good backhand as well but still I think Fed would rather play a flat hitter than a player like Nadal.

I seriously have a feeling Federer is going to lose this one. I can see it. It's sad, maybe its just me going crazy cause i want to see him win his 13gs. But I have a feeling Berdych is going to be playing unstoppable tennis and Fed won't be at his best.

Retirement aside..it is possible...I think Fed in 3. I think he wants to get this over with, especially after that 5 setter with Janko...he needs to rest his body...the fatigue of that last match after being ill must be rough.....

it is quite difficult for berdych to beat federer. but djokovic definetly has the "skill and power" to be able to beat federer....
do not think federer will be able to win slams as easy as previous years.. all other guys are getting better and better....they are more eager to win....

I agree that Berdych is over-rated quite a bit. He does possess enormous potential in the form of his forehand, and his height promises a strong serve (but frankly his serve doesn't live up to expectations). In terms of GS success...unluckily for him he either meets Davydenko, Blake, Nadal, or Federer around thee 4th round or in the quarters; and while the first two have yet to show themselves as serious GS threats, they are major hassles for the Czech: last year's AO saw Davydenko take him out in R16; at Wimbledon he got bundled out by Nadal in the quarters, and in the '06 USO Blake eliminated him in the R16. So no, I can't see Berdych troubling Federer at all in this match; maybe a tie-breaker for one of the 3 sets but that would be it for the Czech.
[Just for the record, I can't understand Tipsarevic's performance: the guy was playing well, yes, but I've watched him play better. Federer's errors really cost him in that match.]

Did they just say they're showing Blake-Cilic match instead of Roger (numba one)-Berdy???????????????????????????????? Are you kidding!?!?!

I am the only one that voted Berdych in 5 sets. I think Federer might turn out a bit rusty from his last performance.

Is Berdych playing his best tennis... is he playing as well as when he beat Federer 4 years ago?

I just haven't had much chance to watch him play, and can't really compare his performance with another time.
