Federer lost in his first match (not first round, but still his first match) to Haas, who lost to Zverev, who lost to Lopez, who lost to Pouille. Just saying.
Of course it is. Lol, who cares, it was a 250 tournament anyway. That is not wooden spoon . Sorry
It works even after 3 months. This is the famous Rafa Curse
It's only a small wooden spoon as the champion is the guy who beat the guy who beat the guy who beat Federer.Federer lost in his first match (not first round, but still his first match) to Haas, who lost to Zverev, who lost to Lopez, who lost to Pouille. Just saying.

Like your avatar, but what is Mac doing with those double digit slam winners
You mean 2015 when he lost to Kyrgios? Because he wasn’t in Madrid in 2016. But still it’s the same case, he also had a 1st round bye before the Kyrgios loss. That cannot be wooden spoon if Federer lost in second round. Federer did get wood spoon I believe in Madrid last year though.
I disagree. If you trace back from the champion, loser by loser, you eventually come to Federer. It can't go further than that, so Federer wins the wooden spoon. That cannot be wooden spoon if Federer lost in second round. Federer did get wood spoon I believe in Madrid last year though.

Wooden Spoon is said to be won by the player who is defeated in the first round by a player who is defeated in the second round, and so forth, until the final of a given tournament.
A proper wooden spoon is Nadal at the 2016 Aus Open.Does it really count? It's meant to be the person who loses to a person who loses to the next person etc.
It gets muddled with tournaments that have byes.
E.g. Does Federer share the spoon with Herbert? Herbert lost to Haas, Haas then beat Federer but then lost to Zverev. The byes throw it all out of whack.
That's not what happened in Stuttgart and also Madrid in 2015.
