Ferrer-Ferrero SPOILER

talk tennis favorite (okay, second favorite) jc ferrero was edged out by compatriot (and almost namesake) david ferrer. jc was leading 4-2 in the 3rd but couldn't hold on to the break. overall, very poor stats for him, 20 winners vs 50 ue's. he still seems to have some problems with nerves/confidence especially when it comes to closing out matches. all you jc fans still have to wait for the claycourt season which officially starts next week. i know you'll be keeping your eyes on him in monte carlo.

anyways, do you people think he made a mistake by playing the indoor and hardcourt tournaments given his recent poor form? maybe it would have been better for his confidence if he played in the february south american clay events where he had a better chance to win more matches?

it's a shame that he lost,,,
he was on such a great run in this tournament, beating red hot Canas in the 2nd round,,,
i think he really have to do something about those unforced errors on upcoming events...
this year's clay court season should be really interesting... Ferrero seems to be getting better, but you never know what will happen, since he will be seeded very low, and will play high ranking players in the earlier round...

I think he really should have played on the South American clay court events, just to get himself familiar to clay before the official clay court begins.
Well, we will just have to see how he plays on his first clay court tournament in Valencia next week..

Ferrero had chances to break at 4-5 in the third set but couldnt capitalise. This is quite upseting as another contender to federer gets dumped out. I would be pretty *****d if Henman doesnt bt Stephanek tommorrow.

I heard from my friend that there is some guy named Roger Federer, and he is supposed to be pretty good. ;)

I second that... Roger Federer is hot and as consistent as ever.

The style that JC Ferrero is demonstrating on hard court just doesn't look right. During the match, there are many time that he can just kill the point by hitting it flat down the line, but instead he go and hit a top-spin and the balls sail long. Plus both player with similar style and are hitting extreme top spin from one side of the court to another, awesome display of top spin ground stroke. The style of play just doesn't fit into hard court.

Obviously the clay courters hit with a tremendous amount of topspin. But doesn't Federer also hit with a similar amount of topspin as well? Roddick too on the FH? Obviously the clay courters are a little more patient with their shots but to me a guy like JCF doesn't hit with more topspin than Federer. In fact, I would say Federer probably hits with more.

Federer takes the ball a lot earlier than Ferrero that is the difference. Roger also can hit flat balls when he wants to be aggressive, Ferrero is not really confident in hitting many flat balls, be he is capable of it.
