I did not

It was hilarious how his wife turned into a fangirl. Her daughter was standing at the front, with Federer and her in the back. She places her hand on her daughter's shoulder and just pushes her to the side, completely out of view. Felt sorry for the kid.

She wanted the epicness to herself lol

vid or it didnt happen, no?

OK, struggling to find it, because it was part of an overall backstage video of Federer's visit. But I will keep looking and will most certainly show it to you. Kiefer was just standing on the side, having no issues with his wife pushing his daughter out of the video. LOL

Imagine how we'll all be feeling in two weeks time :(

Best matches the last two years happened at Wimbledon, on grass

Djokovic v Nadal W 2018 - Best Djokodal match of them all
Djokovic v Federer W 2019 - Most historic Fedovic match

Greatest Fedal Match of them all - Wimbledon 2008

Best Federer v Del Potro match - Olympics at Wimbledon 2012
Best Djokovic v Del Potro match - Wimbledon 2013
Best Nadal v Del Potro match - Wimbeldon 2018

Federer v Murray - best slam match - W 2012

And some think grass should be made obsolete. LOL

The Gasquet/Wawrinka quarterfinal in 2015 was also a great quality match. Summer just won't feel the same without Wimbledon. :(

Grass has become a niche surface in tennis. Grass-courts have (almost) died out in Australia & America, and in Europe only a few countries have grass courts. The ATP grass season should be eliminated, because it's unfair competition. Only very few kids/players have an opportunity to play on grass courts in their home countries because grass courts don't exist.

Ask 100 players which tournament they would want to win the most and I guarantee that nearly all of them would pick Winbledon.

Well, please go ahead and produce a better list. I'll wait.
I guess it is hard to argue about the best match of 2018, but in 2019 it is very debatable. I rate USO 2019 final as a better match than Wimbledon 2019 final. Not because Nadal won it, but IMO it just had much better quality. It had no sets which were as bad as the second and fourth set in Wimbledon, everything was competitive. And the losing player was just outplayed at the end, not choked. I don't think Wimbledon final was that great when it comes to the level of play. Djokovic was far from his best and Federer was too afraid to take advantage of that. It wasn't even the best match of their rivalry IMO.

What match do you think will be remembered more over history. Wimbledon 2019 or USO 2019? It is not just about shot making. Besides, Rafa was about to put in a serious choke and lose a two set to love lead. Should have been done in straights. I have seen many places where they ranked the best matches of last year, and W 2019 tops it for almost each one.

Historically 2019 WB final is one of the most legendary matches of the last decade.
Top 5 in no particular order:
2013 RG SF
2019 WB Final
2018 WB SF
2012 AO Final
2017 AO Final

Nadal was also close to an epic choke in RG 2013 semifinal, but somehow it is not considered a bad match. Many people just judge matches by names and not by the actual level of play. Had Djokovic won 6-2 6-2 6-1 some would still call Wimbledon final the match of the year, just because it was a match between Federer and Djokovic.

Sure, and many people also have stated that Wimbledon 2019 was one of the greatest if not the greatest display of mental toughness and clutchness ever seen. Federer was playing very well in that match, just got tight in the tie breaks, anyone else against him, he wins the title. That match will be remembered for many things including Djokovic's iron will, and it had far more intense moments with the championship on the line on Federer's serve.

I had the impression that on this forum this match is considered as of the most epic chokes. Federer lost all the big points in that match.

Yes, in the 2019 field Federer would have won the title against any other opponent, but of course not against players from the past. 2008 Nadal beats this Federer in straight sets.

Murray is the only guy to do a straight set and fifth set of a slam final winning combo on Djokovic. Federer was one point away last year from matching it.

Often wonder what would have happened if Djokovic had squeezed past Querrey and made it through to the 2016 final. Would we have seen a repeat of 2013 or something more like 2019?

Federer did get tight, there is no denying it, but Djokovic also showed the most increased iron will possible, with everyone in the crowd willing him to lose, him zoning into lock down mode and absorbing the barrage of shots Federer threw at him, and he still had to make that clutch pass, even if it wasn't the greatest of approaches by Federer. Federer didn't lose ALL the big points in the match, because if you are one point away from the win, you must have won a few, he just didn't win the two most crucial points of them all.

Not sure. I would lean more to something in the middle.

@Mainad - The one thing I always wanted was a rematch between Djokovic and Murray at W. Beating Murray there is only thing Djokovic hasn't done in the slams against his big four family.

Sorry, I miss this bit. Thought I better address it.

We are talking about the field and the matches within that year, we are not saying if that player was playing the best tennis of his life that year. I mean you mention how Nadal 2008 beats 2019 Federer in straight sets, he probably does, but Djokovic 2011 straight sets Nadal USO 2019 in the final also...However we are discussing the matches as they happened in that year alone, with the talent that was available that year.

The only time they ever met in The Championships was at the 2013 final (previous year they met at the Olympics). Contrast with the other Slams where they have faced each other on multiple occasions with Djokovic usually having the upper hand.

Exactly, I always wanted that re-match, for Novak to get his shot. They only played once at Wimbledon, while multiple times at the other three slams. Probably won't happen now, and I guess Murray will always have that over him.

My point is that this statement that the finalist would beat any other player in the draw is not always relevant. I believe Nadal at AO 2019 would have also beaten any other player from the top half of the draw. And Medvedev would have definitely won USO 2019 against any other opponent from the bottom half. Actually, that can be said about many finalists.

Wimby is a widely known tournament thanks to the British propaganda apparatus. Wimby is actually a social event, where British celebrities compete against each other.
The Telegraph, July 2017: "For two weeks every summer, all eyes are on Centre Court for the most gruelling battle of the year. No, not the tennis - but the fight to become champion of the Royal Box. Politicians, celebrities and actual Royalty all ruthlessly jostle to become king or queen of Wimbledon. They score points with their outfits, seating positions, and how many front pages they can hog. Competition has been particularly fierce this year...."
