For all who's favorite ISN'T in the Top 4.

I like all the Croatians, Haas, Kohly, Wawrinka, Lopez, Tipsy, Phau, and pretty much anyone that goes to net with any kind of regularity. I'd have to say that my favorites out of the group would have to be Lopez, Kohly, and Haas.

Gasquet (gotta admire the skill off that flashy backhand). Others: Wawrinka, Davydenko, safin, Haas, Roddick, Berdych, Nalby a lot more....the "Others" keep changing over time but never with Gasquet.

yeah - very nice indeed. how many players will do that after an opponent's retirement due to injury? I bet not a lot....bless you, Tommy.

Just wanted to bump this b/c I'm tired of all the Federer/Sampras GOAT threads. Get over it people! Stop fighting about hypotheticals and what ifs and let's talk about TENNIS, and not Roger's jacket or who's GOAT or if Roger serves harder than Sampras...blahblahblah.

If you're tired of this, show some love to other players. (Roddick already got plenty of love for his perfomance, so preferably not him either. But if you want to, feel free)

---------------

So with that being said, Congrats to Tommy Haas for making it back to the top 20! Great run Tommy!

I'm looking for Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to make a strong showing at the Open, perhaps a quarter or a semi, he is my fave. No doubt in my mind, James Blake will be pumped up for a strong hard court season, the Open always seems to get him fired up and bring out his best.

I hope so. Going w/o a title since 2007 is a long time. He's due. I still think he's got some big wins left in him. That loss last yr in the USO to Fishy was a shock to me, I thought he'd make another run there.

Hopefully he can get some momentum back this summer.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Hewitt with the coming HC season and virtually no points to defend. I'd love to see him make it to the QF at the USO.

Others I like:
Gonzales
Nalbandian (future prospects not looking good I'm afraid)
Davydenko (much underappreciated I think)
Cilic
Stepanek (I might be alone on this one)
Kohlschreiber

Roddick has been my favourite since I can remember. I'm very glad that he made the Wimbledon final. Even I was surprised he pushed the match so far! Good luck at the USO to him.

Well as I'm sure you know I'm a big Fed fan but many of the rest of my favourites aren't in top 4 so I hope you don't mind if I join in.

So David Nalbandian, one of the cleanest ballstrikers I've ever seen, amazing court sense and tennis brain, sublime BH,if he's on that day he can make anyone look silly, always loved his game.He had to have a hip surgery back in May(I think it was then) and will not be able to play on tour until next year.So I hope he heals up well and makes a full comeback next year.I also hope even if there's very little chance of that happening(I'm aware of that) that he grabs a slam title before he retires,it would be a shame for someone of his talent to remain slamless.

Suscribe to everything this smart man says :) (Well except for the big Fed fan part)

Tommy Haas won me over with his interviews. They're a perfect mix of insightful and hilarious. I love the guy. His on court play has been strong lately and, I mean, how can you not root for a guy with all that bad luck?

some of my favs to watch outside the top4: safin, nalby, tsonga, dent, gasquet, baghdatis ,gonzalez, kohlschreiber, verdasco .....

Whats wrong with that? do you want us to talk about Tommy Robredo?

There's more tennis players than Fed, Nadal, and old man Pete. You guys have the same arguments about the same topic over and over in every thread. Fed fans are always gonna think Fed's the best, Sampras fans are gonna always think Pete's the best, and Nadal fans are gonna just rip Fed for no reason in every thread. It gets old after a while. Like I said, there's more to tennis then who's GOAT.

my favorite is obviously federer, but I want to show some love for the other players I really liked. Sorry I didn't comment earlier, but great thread.

other players I like are safin:cry:, nalby, gasquet, ancic, nishikori, haas, and ferrero. Wishful thinking on my part, but hope safin makes it really far in the USO, perhaps even winning it.

Anyone know what is up with ancic? I miss him a lot. Hope he will be back for the USO.

to the OP, can you tally all the votes? seems to me among the non-top four, nalbandian has the most fans, then safin and roddick, none of which surprise me. on the other hand i'm plesantly surprised that my other faves are quite popular too, like haas, kohlschreiber and even ferrero.

Yes, thank you. I'm quoting this because it cannot be emphasized enough.:)

I just want to clarify that I don't think federer is the best or Goat or whatever. I'm just a fan because I love his tennis.

I wasn't talking about you, icedevil. Most Fed fans seem to legitmately like the guy and his tennis fans. Same w/ some Nadal fans. It's the people who focus on stuff like jackets and wardrobe and such, stuff that has nothing to do w/ the tennis that's played, and take that stuff as some sort of indictment of a player's personality.

I remember how after Soderling beat Nadal, people called him a cheater, said he was the worst guy on tour, it got pretty bad. But then after he was so gracious and funny after the FO final, people realized how wrong they'd been about judging the guy based on a few moments. It's pretty ridiculous at times how people on here make solid judgements about people they've never met.

@Greefin Beta, it's kinda late to add a poll now, but Roddick, Nalby, Safin, and Haas seem to be a lot of people's favorites, as well as a few other players. Just good to know that some other people realize there's more than 3 players that play tennis.

Federer is only my joint-favourite player. It's just that I never get the chance to talk about Feli Lopez because all threads are Fed-Nadal related.

Huh? My avatar says I like Lopez. That doesn't change the fact that all threads are Fed-Nadal related. You really aren't the sharpest knife in the box, are you?

You are a die hard Fed fan, you never speak of Lopez even in the Pro Match results thread...

So don't make a fuss about something when it's clearly your fault...

I speak of Lopez in the results thread whenever I can. It's very much not my fault.

Look minimo, you can't call out anyone for being a diehard anything after the Murray debacle left you w/egg on your face @ Wimbledon.

This thread is to talk a/b all other players, not to attack people for who they root for. thejoe has always claimed Lopez as his fave, so what if he also likes Fed.

Let me guess, next thing your gonna say is that im a glory hunter for supporting Murray...

Couldn't agree with you more. 99% of the posts repeat different versions of the same sentences over and over again:

1. Federer has the most slams
2. Nadal leads Fed H2H
3. The H2H is lopsided because Nadal is not good enough on HC
4. Nadal was not 100% because of <insert appropriate excuse>
5. Fed is arrogant

The variation with Murray:

1. Federer has the most slams
2. Murray leads Fed H2H
3. H2H is irrelevant outside of slams
4. Fed is arrogant
5. Murray is a *****/is ugly

What a waste of forum space.

Personally my fav outside top 4 is Tsonga.
