Frances Tiafoe: 4 top 10 wins since July

I was impressed that Tiafoe played clay court events earlier this year. Playing on clay improves point construction skills and it appears to be paying off.

Tiafoe's quirky forehand works. His backhand has improved and he has a solid serve. He is going places. It will be fun and interesting to see how far he can take his love of the game as he moves up the rankings and challenges for tournament and slam wins.

Prior to this run, though (devil's advocate), he was a mere 3-21 against the top 10.

3-21 = (12.5%)
7-23 = (23.3%)

Quite an improvement, sure, but some of the people OP named actually win a lot more often across their career and don't rely on a purple patch.

Thank you for your service.

As for the rest of the post, wtf? I have zero clue what Tiafoe does that would annoy people but apparently he has some haters. Didn't think that was possible...
Are you kidding me? That kind of celebration can annoy people. That's something you do in a hooligan sport like football. Still, I like the kid. Just don't like his lazy shot making and showmanship.

Tiafoe unquestionably has top tier RAW power. The kind where he doesn’t even need to have his feet set to blast a heavy ball with spin (kind of like Serena in her prime). And he has played without fear in his big wins this year. But that was because he was always the underdog and no one, probably not even himself, expected much from him given his very inconsistent results over the last couple of years. He’s shown this summer and fall that he actually has some good touch shots and is able to come into the net to finish off his his approach shots. Now let’s see if he can actually win something big when expectation is on his shoulders.

No one seems to be talking about how Tiafoe dropped his longtime friend/coach to let Wayne Ferriera handle the whole job. He looks a lot steadier now. Fewer questionable decisions. The old friend/coach was in his twenties I believe. Not that he couldn't do the job but Ferriera isn't gonna put up with as much silly stuff. More professionalism now. Something Kyrgios would vigorously reject in an over the top, painfully defensive way.

Who knew that out of all the NextGen it would be Tiafoe, not Zverev, Medvedev, Ruud, FAA, Sinner, or Carlos, who finally took down Rafa at a Slam? Tsits deserves credit for his AO 21 win also but I feel that this was a bigger victory.
