Honestly we haven’t had a good tennis game in like 15 years. These games look and feel like low budget shovelware.

new topspin is solid. Feels like a reskinned TS4 that does some things better and some worse. I’m pretty sure they used the same engine. I’d give it a 6/10, simply because every other console tennis game I’ve tried since then has been garbage.

If you're on PC I'd absolutely recommend tennis elbow 4, especially with the XKT mod - movements are extremely realistic and so are points

I wonder how many of the pros are actually happy with their likeness in the new TopSpin 2K25 game?
The physics and gameplay and career options are great, but it’s hard not to be shocked by just how primitive the player builds look in the game.
Its an interesting situation because TopSpin 2K25 is basically priced like a very expensive AAA game but visually it looks like a game from quite an old graphics engine remastered for UHD.

2K is greedy, they ask for money just for night sessions, and overpriced deluxe editions. And for 2024 game, the likeness of the faces is really of the faces is really average.

The gameplay should get good for me once my created player is maxed out. I'm still struggling to serve with the 50 rating.
To be fair to Taylor Fritz. I liked his reaction to his volley stat.

There’s definitely some dodgy ones. Amazing gameplay mechanics but yeah I think they probably should have tried much harder with the likenesses or charged it out as a much cheaper game rather than tried to go the AAA route and chucked all the in-game purchases in too.

This TopSpin 2K thing reminded me that there's an official ATP/WTA tennis game being developed by the studio that brought you AO Tennis. It's called Tiebreak. For now it's on early access on PC, but there are plans to bring it to consoles. It doesn't look that good in action IMO compared to Full Ace Tennis or Tennis Elbow 4 (two games where the animations are fugly but the gameplay actually looks like tennis). That being said, it must be one of the first tennis games that officially license not only the tournaments but also plans to get a good portion of the players. Usually you have to license the players individually, which is why most games have a very small roster (except on PC because mods). Some effort was made so that (some of) the player animations actually look like the real deal (serves at least look somewhat correct).
...Not gonna lie, it looks rough, especially considering it's their 3rd tennis game at least already.

Having watched a bit of 2k25 I just can’t believe that the ball physics are so bad. It slows down so much in mid-air, it might as well be a pickleball. You end up with 40 shot rallies on grass.
Full Ace Tennis is still by far the best tennis game for PC, it just needs a console equivalent. Once they sort out some more animations (E.g. walking between points, sliding, and “giving up” on a shot, which Top Spin does very well) and make the players’ faces look good, it will be pretty much unbeatable.

These are actually the best renderings in the game. Take a look at the treatment Andy Murray got if you want to see bad. The shots look and sound good but the movement is so bad in this clip. Very jerky and unnatural. Seems every tennis game does some things well but lacks in others. I’m happy with TS25 so far. Basically an updated topspin 4 which is the very least i was asking for.

The career mode is super boring and it's pure grinding, and in online mode, there are a lot of of level 30 (the max) players who always play with the same pattern, baseliners with . super powerful forehand , we should play with players of our level, maybe in the future the matchmaking will be balanced.

I've stopped using the world tour mode because too many beatings. Sure, I can take a beating, but it was just boring, the same routine every time. Rallies often ending in 1-2 shots.
I'll get my ass kicked with real players as well, I played some super Federer the other day, but I'm having some fun matches in 2k mode.

My list of complaints are also endless. Make Sampras and Johnny Mac fun to use. Maybe take 10 points off Sampras volleys and give them to his backhand. I haven't played against either of them once online.

I've watched that video and tried out the academy, but it still feels alien.
Had a real good match there. Agassi vs Shelton. Took me a while to get into it, lost first set 0-3, saved break points at start of set ,2 then all of a sudden my timing improved, and he started hitting more into the net because I was making him hit one more shot.
Then I served for the match. I was comfortable at 40-0 and then I choked. Nooooo. He breaks, then he goes 4-0 in the tie-break, new lease of life then suddenly another long point, I win and then I win the next 6 points after that as well. Yayy..
