I am looking to buy either the Gamma Progression II 602 FC or the Alpha Pioneer DC plus, and am wondering what you guys thought of each one, on its strong points and its weakpoints. I was wondering which one you guys thought was better. Thank you for answering.

I did quite a bit of research before purchasing my stringing machine. Ultimately, I went with the Alpha Pioneer DC Plus and do not regret it for a second. Both of these machines have good reputations for both the product and customer service. I went with the Pioneer because the linear gripper appealed to me. I noticed the Pioneer is $40 cheaper. Could get yourself a starting clamp with the savings. Other than that I don't think you can go wrong with either machine or company.

I got an Alpha Pioneer DC plus less than a week ago. I have strung about 4 rackets since that time. It's been really fun to use and I've cut my stringing time down to a little over 1 hour. It's easy to use and I really like that there is a triangle on the tensioner that aligns with a line to show if you have met your set tension (you'll see what i mean if you get one). The strings I got with it are really good too.(Alpha Gut Poly)..it is a hybrid of a poly and a multi. I got 10 of them, which is a 50 dollar value. Lastly, it comes with a DVD by YuLittle on how to string, make knots, tension, maintenance, etc. I would absolutely recommend this machine to you.

How much did you end up paying for the alpha after shipping? I am also trying to decide between these two machines right now.

The Alpha is $429 shipped. I wanted to buy one but they are out of stock. The next shipment is due in 5 weeks or so.

Sorry guys! I may have been the one who purchased the last Pioneer DC from Alpha before the new shipment arrives

Mark initially called me after placing my order informing me that his records indicated the last one was just sold and my money would be refunded promptly. But then he called back immediately after to say he physically went into his inventory and found one. It was shipped last Friday and arrived the following Tuesday. Can't be the customer service and speedy shipping.

I, too, did my homework on this one wanting to pick the most efficient and economic machine for my needs. I'll only be stringing for myself and a few of my friends. For me it was Alpha Pioneer DC Plus vs. Eagnas Combo 710. What sold me on the APDC+ was the "throw in" items including TONS of strings ranging from gut to nylon, replacement grips, 25-pack of overgrips, and more. Plus, the Yulite DVD was a nice addition providing a step-by-step tutorial using the actual Pioneer DC (and the Revo).

Right now I got the old Donnay mounted for some experimenting. I'd say it's definitely worth the wait for the next shipment if you're looking at this stringer. Great, sturdy machine. Easy to use and ready to go right out of the box.

looks good i am debating whether to buy the revo or the pioneer dc.. argh..

The Revo has a screw brake as I have said in your other threads. This would be a selling point if you are going to be stringing prince racquets often. The other thing is that it is a crank therefore it would be slightly quicker to string on. The Pioneer DC + is also a fine machine but for the long run, I would buy the Revo 4000.

I would say you can't go wrong with either... But it looks like the Alpha would get the nod simply for what you get for your money...

I have been stringing on Gamma machines for 19 years but never on one of their dropweight machines. The one dropweight I owned was an Alpha Pioneer II and I thought it was great, at least compared to my buddies Klippermate.
