Thanks Gamma Tech,

It looks like the Progression ST II looks sturdier, turn table assembly looks thicker. Are the fix mounting clamps the same or interchangable with the X-ST?

Can both easily upgrade with the Wise Head?

I have the ST II and have just added a Wise 2086 tension head. The upgrade is very easy. There is an optional adapter for the ST II to elevate the Wise string gripper so it is on the same level as the racquet mounted on the stringer. I would recommend getting this adapter which costs $45.00. The only downside is you lose the 360 degree rotation capability. To me this is not a big deal. I used to have a drop weight machine and I am used to not having the 360 degree rotation capability.

Thanks!! Is the adapter purchased also from **********.com? I use a klippermate and I want an over all upgrade since I beginning to string more peoples' racquets on the side. So the 360 degree rotation will not be an issue to me since the klippermate does not offer that.

I just found out that Wise is manufactured in Los Angeles. This would save me shipping cost by just picking it up. :)

on the progression machines the turntable, vertical part of mounting arm, winder stand, base, (anything painted gray) is injected aluminum. On the x-stringers these parts are extruded aluminum. all the parts are equally as stiff. So it comes down to looks not structural integrity or function.

both would be the same process for upgrading to a wise tension head. probably about 5 minutes. you would have to remove the screw at the end of the track and then the tension head. Then slide the wise head on and tighten it.
