Gamma Progression X-Es tension knob getting tuff to turn.

Has anyone else had this problem. Machine is about 13 yrs. old and this just started maybe in the last month or so. Getting really difficult to turn the knob to adjust the various tensions. I hit it with a little WD 40 or whatever that stuff is and it didn't help at all. First problem with machine in all these years. Any ideas or suggestions?

Contact @Gamma Tech or Gamma Sports. We are guessing. I suspect that something is binding in the pot, but I would not be willing to recommend a fix.

The tension adjustment knob has a long threaded rod (about 6" long) that has a square metal block that rides back and forth on it as you adjust tension up or down. Over time the lubricant may get dirty, dry, and gummy and clog the threads making the adjustment knob difficult to turn. If you spray an old toothbrush with WD-40 and gently scrub the threads you will clean them. Work the adjustment knob back and forth and the new lubricated threads will allow the metal block to travel freely. The problem will be solved. However....before you can do any of this you have to get the black FRP cover off of the machine. That's not the easiest thing in the world to do, but if you are a little handy you can do it. Be careful that something has not gotten "in the threads" if I had to bet I would say that the threads are also gummed up or have dirt or maybe a small piece of string hung up in it. don't force it to turn you could damage the threads. Take it apart clean it and lube it up you should be fine.

That could prove to be difficult as the screw is inside the tensioning spring. I would suggest running the tension up as high so it goes so more of the screw is exposed so it can be cleaned with a tooth brush. When finished what type of lubricant would you suggest putting back on it? Rather than WD-40 would Safariland CLP be a better cleaner?
