"Go home, James"

ZAGREB, Croatia - A Croatian fan sitting ********* waved a sign as James Blake was about to serve: ``You can't beat without Pete.'' At one point, Blake shouted at the fan holding the Sampras banner, ``Put the sign down!'' A fan replied, ``Go home, James.''

I found this on another tennis board and it made me really laugh. Did this really happen or is it just a joke?

It sounds believable. And pretty mild for a Davis Cup crowd. The ties the US played in South American(particularly Paraguay in the 80s) were pretty scary.

James is known to be a less than nice guy on the court.

That's what Harvard will do to you LOL

Yes, remember it was James who looked at the USO chair umpire, pointed to a linesman and said 'look at the similarities.'

Seriously, when did James become 'less than a nice guy on the court'? Someone refresh my memory because I can't remember any incidents of him getting in an opponent's face or really mouthing off to an umpire. The only thing I can think of is his match against Hewitt at last year's Aus Open, but he was just mimicking Hewitt, and mildly so.

I must have been reading about the wrong Blake....Robert Blake. It was something about his court behaviour and how he was behaving oddly.

Seems like some people arent happy with the american tennis they are playing now, suggest they get some chips and sit back on the couch and watch old sampras matches.

To be fair, as an admitted Blake fan and Hewitt loather, showing evidence that another player was "less than a nice guy on the court" with Blake does nothing to dispel the notion that Blake also is "less than a nice guy on the court."

that was actually hewitt who said that. blake handled the situation very well considering the circumstances.
ive seen him play and i think he is a nice guy on court as well as off court. he applauds his opponents' good shots and isnt bad tempered unless there is a need to be.
