Tecnifibre TGV 1,40 may be a good deal, a good mixture of great confort and good durability.

Whatever brand you choose go with a lower guage (thicker) cross. Based on your level you'll break crosses long before your break the SPPP. (Unless you don't mind restringing frequently.)

Pro Supex Maxim Touch is a multi but for $5-6 per stringing when bought in a reel IMO is the best value out there.

I disagree with Prince w Duraflex. It feels like hitting with a 2x4. Very rough and extreme string movement. Don't think many people use it but Head PPS is my go to syn gut. If you are going with Syn gut because its cheap and helps soften up a poly you might also look at Head Rip Control. Its $6.35 so more than $3-4 for most Syn gut but it is the best cross Ive found. It moves more than a poly but less than a Syn gut, and is softer than a Syn gut.

swood, it's been a year and you still can't decide?

There are many reasons people like Gosen Micro: it's cheap, it's not too soft or firm, and it has pretty good power. As a result, it makes a really good cross string.

Based on my experience if I want a cross that has decent durability and a more muted feel I choose Forten Sweet. If I want a cross that will be a little crisper feeling, I use PSGD. If I want something in between, Gosen Micro is the answer.

aggietex, I agree that Head PPS is very nice but it might not be the best choice for a cross string bc many feel it has durability issues. Head PPS would be my syn gut of choice for a full string job if I didn't have to worry about restringing often.
