Got paired up with a weak partner to play #1 doubles

One of the rules of TT is that all posters are invariably the stronger partner.

It's this illusion that keeps us all coming back to the game and having sweet dreams of playing like Fed every time we win a 3.5 match:)

I love it when guys get all mad when they don't make the full sprint diving forehand winner down the line shot!

They can't imagine that I hit a good ball, their inner disgust of their utter lack of ability to pull of a Nadalesque winner is all they can think of. As they utter, I'll never be a 4.0 if I can't make that shot!"

Cindy got it!
You are the sacrificial lamb, to be slaughtered and eaten by the opposition, so the teammates can play down one position to hopefully win the overall match.

Oh, and if you want to improve your rating, you have to improve your game. There's no way around that.
you mean my Usta dntrp does not control how well I can hit my fh, or how high I can hit a kicker? that's novel :p

I quite like playing with a weaker team m8. I find playing with someone much better than me makes me tense. I worry he will think Im crap compared to his all-round splendor.
Judging someone just on their match scores says more about you than it does about them. Give the guy a chance.

So what was the outcome of this pairing? Jonboy, did you play, or were you just pulling our collective legs? Was the OP a decent player?

TEAM. You are part of a TEAM.
You play where the captain puts you, thats that.

I personally dont understand why NTPR ratings are that important, but I dont discount that it means something to some folks.

If you want to be in charge of your own destiny, play Flex League Singles or Single tournaments.

I usually play well in doubles and am accustomed to being the strongest player. But when I get paired up with someone better, I dont like it. There's a particular Argentine called Martine who is a great player. He always stares at me with a mixture of bewilderment and sympathy.....
