Grip/swing path/one or two hands to get most extreme topspin on backhand?

I hit my forehand with an Hawaiian grip and a reverse follow-thru.

On the backhand side, what grip and follow-thru gives the most extreme topspin?

I was thinking going for a 2 handed grip combo of extreme eastern for the right (dominant for me) hand, and Hawaiian forehand grip for the left (non-dominant for me) hand?

At the moment I use an extreme eastern one handed backhand, and that to me feels much more comfortable on high balls than any 2 handed backhand. I use a wind-shield wiper finish on this - and I find that naturally happens when using the more extreme 1hbh grips.

Is there such thing as a reverse follow-thru (over the same shoulder) for the one handed backhand?

Anyway, so if you're trying to get the most extreme amount of topspin on a backhand, should you use one or two hands, what grip/grip combo, and what swing path?

And which pro's technique would be the best to emulate?

If you want most about of spin on your backhand, chuck a nadal and play with your left hand. But in all seriousness your gonna break your wrist playing with a hawaiin grip.

I dare you to try a reverse follow through with a backhand, only possible with 2 handed where you let go of your right hand. Imho 2 handed backhand provides more spin

I think people should realize by now that the amount of topspin really have nothing to do with the grip, but how you hit the ball. And it also doesn't matter if you hit with one or two hands.

I think a 1 hander allows for a more aggressive low to high swing path than a 2 hander, and that's what gives people topspin...not ridiculously uncomfortable grips.

HaroldSolomon used to play with an extreme eastern backhand grip for his left hand and a weak western for his right hand. He was a rightie, 5'7", and looped moonballs for a living (as high as top 20's in pros). His contact point was always well forwards of anyone's at the time, straight low takeback and maybe a 20 degree upwards swing.

Sort of a trick question, just because you need to figure out for yourself whether your aptitude is more tilted in favor of hitting a one or a two-hander. If you're not naturally suited to hit a certain style of stroke, it probably can't be better for you.

LeeD, do you mean X-EBH grip on right hand, and weak-W on left hand for Solie? He was the master of the high top roller in his day. Nastase actually used a few curse words when he had to stand out there all day chasing Solomon's high rollers. Nastase hated to play Solie.

PassiveAgressive, I would ask you why you want to hit extreme top on both sides. Why not learn to play with grips and a style that allows you more variety such as slice, and flat balls. Also, X topspin grips are not best for low balls. In most club level tennis and even fairly advanced tennis (say 4.5 and below) you see a lot of low bouncing slice on backhands and serves and an X EBH or E Western forehand is not great for low balls. Also, you are not going to volley well with X topspin grips.

Be an all courter instead of a Nadal clone and use reasonable grips.

But, that's just my opinion and to each his own.

Wow, now we're about to get into which grip for what pro and does it equate to extreme topspin or does the 2hbh go traditional fast with a moderate topspin? Nadal's 2hbh is not the most topspin, as he can hit great ripping passing shots and baseline winners. Yes, this last year, he's been hitting some more loopers than ever, but I think it's more his physical condition forcing his mental to tell him to stay in points, rather than play his normal aggressive baseline game.
Harold. He came by our stringing booth (but chose not to bring any rackets for us to string) at the TransAmericaTourney in SF. His normal forehand was weak W, or extreme SW. Of course, he was RIGHTIE, and I transposed to my lefty, since he spoke to me almost 30 years ago, and fuzzy thoughts have floated in my brain since then. Good catch.
