2. Linda Ronstadt + anybody

she had a lot of great duets and IMHO the most beautiful feminine voice I've ever heard. I could listen to her sing for hours.

here is a duet she did with aaron neville

one with frank sinatra

one from the An American Tail soundtrack

Oscar winner Up Where We Belong from An Officer And A Gentleman by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes.

Warnes also did a medley with Bill Medley in the hit Oscar winning Time Of My Life from Dirty Dancing. That makes Ms. Warnes a serial Oscar winner, no?

I omitted my numerical assignment so I’m now #4.

2. "Fargo"

A bullet to the jaw, an axe to the neck and final processing in s as wood chipper.

3. Disfigured so badly in Miller’s Crossing, Buscemi’s character Mink is shot in the face, left to rot and disfigured by vultures so badly that the stiff is substituted for the corpse of another character who supposedly was executed at the order of a big gangster boss.

5. Always in the face! Buscemi is taken out by a shotgun blast aimed at his grill by cousin Tony as he is carrying his groceries into the house in an episode of The Sopranos. Nice Van Morrison soundtrack accompanied the hit

6. Nikita in La Femme Nikita (assuming hitmen can be female these days)

New topic, best opening act in a concert you have been to:

1. Roy Orbison, opening for the Eagles in 1980 at the Cow Palace. I was blown away by "Pretty Woman".

2. Cheap Trick opened for Todd Rundgren’s Utopia at an old hockey barn called the Long Island Arena in Commack in 1977. By the following year the band was a lead act on worldwide tours and recording live in Japan their best ever sales charting album, Live at Budokan.

4. Went to MSG in spring (Easter weekend?) of 1973 and endured the lingering odor of the Barnum & Bailey circus, recent long term tenants of the world’s most famous arena, The occasion was to see my all-time favorite rock band with full time brass and woodwind players, Chicago. They were great but their management team were idiots, having hired this virtually unknown (nationally) NJ performer and his band as warmup act. Bedlam for Bruce, crickets for Chicago.

5. The prog group, Renaissance, opened for comedian, Steve Martin, at the Paramount Theater in Oakland, CA -- sometime in the late 1970s IIRC

(In the "all music" category, I seem to recall the Mahavishnu Orchestra (jazz fusion) opening for ELP (prog). I think it might have been in the mid or late 70s at Winterland in SF)

22 hours since the last prime warmup act recounting. Oh, what the hell! This wasn’t the pleasant category:

Thanksgiving Friday 1982; Citrus Bowl (now Camping World Stadium) in Orlando. The Who was the lead act for a 3-act schedule with the gates opening at noon but The Who weren’t playing until after sunset (6 pm).

All was cool for the first act: Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. They played for about an hour so it was about 2:30 pm when the next act hit the stage. Unfortunately it was about 2:45 pm when The B-52s left the stage while dodging a barrage of beer bottles. I have no idea why the redneck audience showering them with abuse and glass decided three hours without anyone on stage was preferable to hearing Love Shack and other assorted tunes imported from Athens GA, that Yankee town on the high plains of NE Georgia. Yep, three hours or more doing nothing but waiting for The Who.

Those finest of minds includes our own @Fedace as well as Johnny Mac... (Ya don't suppose that Fedace bailed after 1 year like JMac did, do you?)

Not been to the Harvard campus but I do hear it's quite nice. @Azure, have you made it over there yet -- or to any other of the MA institutions of higher learning?

Lmao I did a cliche tour of Harvard after the Freedom Tour! Going to MIT in a couple of weeks.

Not too enamored after meeting an obnoxious snob from there at work

I also have an indian guy at work who probably had his accent changed on his flight from Mumbai to the US for the first time. His only idea of the accent is to roll his R’s

Biased since it's my alma mater. SLO is very much a college town. Farmer's Market on Thurs nights was always a treat. The main street dowtown, Higuera, was closed to traffic and restaurants sold food and served drinks in front of their establishments. In addition to the fruits and produce from local farmers, there was a usually a circus atmosphere -- courtesy of Cal Poly & other students
