in a match
Yes, both Federer and Sampras have been known to ace 4 serves in a row. I believe Tsonga may have done it in the final game of AO 2008 vs. Nadal too? Not sure about the last one.
Becker once served 5 aces in a row at 0-40.
Plenty of times, at least where the aces are concerned. I've seen Roddick serve four consecutive aces several times, Federer at least a couple, and Querrey once had two consecutive service games each consisting of four aces in a match against James Blake.
Sam Querrey holds the record for most consecutive service aces since the ATP began keeping records of those statistics, with ten.
Sam Querry hit TEN consecutive aces when defeating Blake back in 2007.
I've seen Coria lose his serve only by making consecutive double faults. I guess Verdasco also made 4 DFs in a row versus Nadal recently when he was winning that second set by 4-0 (he then lost it, 7-5).
Federer serves four aces against Sampras at one of their exhibitions last year
Becker against Medvedev... coming out of 0-40 with 5 aces (bombs i might add)
Greg Rusedski hit 5 double faults in a row against Mikhail Youzhny at the 2006 ATP Masters Series Miami. He went on to win the match 6-3 6-1.
He trailed 3-1 after three double faults in his first service game and two more in his second.
Becker at the start of the Masters Cup final against Sampras 1996.
Federer also did on TMC 07 against Nadal, when he was 0-30 down
I recall that, it was indoors. I know Sampras served 4 aces in a row to open his 1998 Wimbledon match vs Enqvist, and 3 to open his 2nd service game, so he won the 1st 7 points on serve with aces.
Stich 1993 YEC F vs Sampras (4th set)
Sampras 1995 US Open F vs Agassi (2-3 in 4th set)
Becker 1996 YEC F vs Sampras (1st game of the match)
Federer 2007 YEC SF vs Nadal
These are some I recall. Double faults, see Coria or Kournikova.
sadly the video where Boris Serves Adryi 5 aces in a row is no longer avaliable on Youtube... i just checked!
Fed vs Nadal TMC 07. That was funny. Fed won 0-30 and then serves 3 straight aces. LOL
Federer in the Wimbledon 2014 final!!
I think that Dimitrov double faulted all of Djokovic points when serving for the set in Miami or Indian Wells
Federer has hit 4 aces in a row about 8 times IIRC.
7 acan be seen in the 2 videos and there is one I cant remember as of now.
Oh yes! That was it. 3rd set IIRC. I knew it was quite recent.
Henri Leconte served 4 double faults in a row I think IIRC
and like said above, Sam Querrey served 10 aces in a row. Amazing stat.
Anyone have video of Sam hitting 10?
Nah, I have never been able to find any footage of it....
I also remember Fed hitting 3 double faults in a row, lol. I think that is on youtube. Kournikova has probably done it multiple times....
How about in the deciding set of a Wimbledon final?
Fairly certain that I've seen Roddick serve 4 back-to-back aces more than once. Saw Federer do it at least once as well.
Don't know how many consecutive DFs he hit, but Marc Rosset lost to Michael Joyce at Wimbledon 1995, hitting 26 DFs in all.
Not searched for it but it is supposed to have happened against James Blake in the 2007 Indianapolis Tennis Championships.
Ive seen Fed do it over 10 times. There are multiple videos on youtube with them.
Either that or against Murray.
Federer has at least 11 already.
Now we know who better server is between the two.
Their W match, both had 25 aces and Fed wasn't even close to his prime.
So, Fed is better server than Sampras.
i have the following one... let's call it "4.5 DF" !
These are 10 of Federer's, and the one at Wimbledon 2014 makes 11 and I'll bet there's more
Isner just did it last night at a US Open/Emirates Air series match in Atlanta. He was up 6-5 in the third set. They opened up new balls......and bam..... Isner dropped 4 aces in a row to win the match over Robby Ginepri.
New to tennis, OP?
OP must not have been watching tennis long.
Seeing 4 consecutive aces is really not all that rare, especially watching Isner, i've seen him do it at least 20+ times...
Four consecutive double faults - watch Fognini in mid-tantrum.
Ivanisevic served 4 aces in a row against Woodforde at 1992 Wimbledon. The game was only 26 seconds long. That might be the fastest game ever, I'm not sure.
Coria served 4 double faults in a row against Kiefer at 2006 Monte Carlo.
Dimitrov was close to DF all of his points in his service game in wimbledon this year against djokovic. He hit three double faults, even missed his first serve in the fourth serve but managed to hit a second serve in, embarresing if he lost the game by double faults.
