Short version:

What is the closest fitting/perfoming shoe to the GR5s? Comfy/cushioned yet very solid/stable, good arch support, generous forefoot while still being form fitting not loose... not too narrow or too low or too flat or too mushy??????? (6's & 7's do not work for me at all so no need to weigh in for those).

Failed attempts: 6s, 7s, older Bab Propulse, older Wilson Rush, anything too narrow in the toe box, t22's fit well and felt solid like the GR5s but bruised the outer edge of my forefoot over time. I have a pair of Cage 2's that feel 'ok' but feel a little swimmy and formless and flat and I don't think they will be a solution so I don't won't to bother.

**Used to use Wilson Tour Vision before GRs and they worked well too.

Long version:

My stockpile of 5's has finally run out. 6's were terrible for me, too tight in the front, way too loose in the back, felt flat and unsupportive with not enough cushion or stability. 7's are not as bad but still unwearable for me, still tight in the toe, mushy and unsupportive (and sweaty as hell, a problem I've never had before). After wearing them three times my body hurt in 5 different places (more discomfort with each attempt). Both 6 & 7s feel like bedroom slippers to me (flat, mushy) compared to the 5's which I experience as cushioned/comfy but very stable, supportive and contoured to my foot. Like plush little form-fitting tanks. I also use an additional insert so I like a shoe with a little room and not too low riding.

So, what would be the closest shoe to the GR5s? Comfy, solid/stable, good arch support, not too narrow or too low or too flat??????? Please help! I literally do not have a shoe I can play tennis in without being in pain the whole time.

Man nothing seems to have worked for you. I'd go Barricade or Barricade Boost. Thats kinda all you are left with to be honest.

Thats all that is still available that is new. You can check fleabay for more 5's

I also found out after I got GR6’s that the previous version the GR5’s were actually more comfortable for me. I also like the T22’s but do not have the issue with side claws that some people report. However since quality of those changed that’s not great anymore either. I do agree Barricade Boost might be an option, they seem slightly wider and more comfortable than other barricades, but it won’t be plush

Well here's what I have on the way:

Head Revolt Pro 2 LTD Men's Black 13.0
adidas Novak Pro Men's Blue/White 12.5
adidas Barricade 17 Men's Blue/White 12.5
Asics Gel Court FF Men's Blue/Yellow 12.5

Only the Head Revolt sounded like maybe it would be good fit on paper. The others are a guess. Most everything else seems to be described as low arches and narrow.

Myself I've got a couple of Nike Lunars for hard courts and GR7s clay (just ordered one more pair from TW at USD89). Plus an old GR6 clay.

Somewhere in my closed I also have Barricades and Vapors.

The rest if the tennis shoes, I just walk in them (mid level Asics, Diadora, etc).

My son had been using the GR5 and really likes the New Balance 1296v2. I haven't played in them so I can't comment on that, but I do like how they fit.

I will also echo your thoughts on the GR6. Didn't like how they felt/fit. Was fortunate enough to find another pair of GR5's this summer, but will need to find something else once these guys need to be replaced.

Can you find any replacement?
I have the same problem as you.
