HELP! Pure Storm Ltd. GT or PS GT (tweaked)???

I really do love the Pure Storm Gt. Ltd and may just end up going with it. It has great control, great swingweight, the thin 19 mm. beam I like and the head lightness (9 pts. or so).

Yet, I have a regular Pure Storm GT (non-tour) that I'm thinking I would tweak with both lead tape in handle and a leather grip and make it about the same balance as the limited. The regular Pure Storm GT is a very good racket but is close to even balanced, which I don't like. Yet, with some lead in lower handle, and a leather grip, I could make this similarly balanced to the GT Storm Ltd.

The beam is a little thicker at 21 mm so I think the "tweaked" PS GT would have more power than the Ltd.

Not sure what to do. I like how the regular Pure Storm GT is a little more powerful than the Ltd. and I also like that it has a more open string pattern.

However, if I could generate as much spin with the Ltd.'s 18 X 20, maybe I'd be better off. I'd have the advantage of that really thin beam I'd like and I could play around with the right softer poly at a lower tension and still get the power I need. (I'm a 5.0 mid-40's player who uses a semi-western, has a one hand backhand and comes in just now and then. I like to hit a big first serve and rely on aggressive groundstrokes to take the offensive. I like to hit flat, topspin and on my backhand, slice as well.) Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks a lot.

I'm also wondering how much lead I should put down in the handle to bring balance up about 7pts? Or, if I'm planning on putting on a leather grip, then how much lead to bring up 7 pts? How much more head light would the leather grip make the racket?

you're going to have to put a lot of lead in the handle to get it to where you want. Those in the know seem to think that using lead is for minor tweaks, not morphing one racquet into another. Why not look into the Pure Storm Tour instead?

The PSLGT is a great racquet, but not if you are looking for power in the racquet. You have to swing with a full swing and use your body weight effectively to reap the benefits of the PSLGT. As for spin, don't believe anyone who says it can't produce spin. I get as much spin with my PSLGTs as I can with my last remaining PDGT.

From how you described yourself, you may want to demo the Pure Storm Tour before you commit to a PSLGT, and you will be selling yourself short if you try to add lead to your Pure Storm you have now. I tried the same thing and added 18g of lead tape to the handle of my PDGT and it still doesn't play like a proper player's racquet.

I now have three non-GT PSL's and I love this frame. It offers excellent control with pinpoint accuracy, nice touch and feel, and does very well in the spin department. I have no trouble generating topspin. As for power, you need to supply that yourself, like Ken said. In my view, the low level of power is a definite plus, as it allows you to hit out, and the ball will still stay inside the lines.

I also have one PST, but the PSL is superior in my view.

I tried the Pure Storm Tour GT but found it just a little too heavy. Trying to keep the swingweight no more than about 324ish.
