Help retiring from Vcore 95 2023

So I went to go return my demos (Blade v8 / Head Speed), and there they were - these beautiful new Blade v9s on launch day....and so now I have a Blade v9 16x19!

Unstrung weight 306g, unstrung SW288. Figured I loved the feel so much and the early reviews all said it's a bit stiffer with a bit more power than the v8s...

I was playing last night too but didn't have time to string up the new Blade, so I had a farewell hit with the Vcore95. I hit so well it wasn't funny. But I was loose and swinging out and hitting some of the best balls ever. Great reminder that this "loose but committed" physical state is how to get the most of any racquet.

Thanks all for the tips and suggestions. Let's see how the new stick goes.

Glad you've found your next racket. I want to do a farewell match with my VCore 95 but I'm worried that if I get it out again I'll want to keep playing with it. I am enjoying the Percept 100D so far though, although I will string it at slightly higher tension next time (currently 53/50).

Did a demo a few months ago and ended up with a VC95. It was the last one I demoed but it felt and played the best. Didn’t have a chance to try the VC98 but the sentiments on having an off day and feeling underpowered ring true. Using a gut hybrid has helped and I’m going to consider adding tape.

The other racket that I really liked was the Gravity Pro. I’ve seen it mentioned a couple times here. 100 sq in so more forgiving. Decent swingweight so you can some free power. But thinner head beam so you get some of that classic feel of control. The only reason why I didn’t go with it was because I was coming from a Gravity MP and wanted to try Yonex as I’ve previously never had one.

No matter what.brand and model First of all at Your level should try 100 si racket. Yonex for example have two descet models in this size Percept and Ezone.

I recommended Gravity Pro for someone using Vcore 95 because at least the 2021 version has almost identical string pattern with GPro when overlayed and pretty much the only difference are those extra outer mains in Gpro. Powerlevel is also similar. But 23 version is little more spinny which must be concerned.

Did you play Gravity MP customised? How did you feel it compares to Pro version?
I’m having hard time searching something large and smooth like Gravity Pro with a bit more bite for angled shots, but all I find is posts telling that MP is not at all like the Pro.

I had added 2g at 12 recently on the vcore 95 and felt it made a difference!

I think the gravity is muted and flexy which are 2 similar characteristics to the Yonex vcore line. It is a good demo for anyone tbh.

the Gravity MP w some weight added is a really great racquet.
the Barty setup would be ideal (grav pro but 16x19)

Yeah I have the Gravity MP with some tape at 3 and 9. It's great if you like to swing fast.

The two do play a bit differently but IMO it was basically because of the weight. MP you can whip around like a samurai sword and take huge cuts at balls with little preparation. Pro felt heavier and needed more preparation. I believe the Pro is an 18x20 vs the MP which is a 16x20 and it clearly showed with a lower launch angle. I did notice that my slices with the Pro felt insanely good. The extra weight on the pro made it easier for heavier shots.

My reason with going up in weight was that I felt it was less stable against bigger servers and bigger hitters. You'll notice with the MP that if you even slightly miss hit, you'll feel the racket twist in your hand.

If I were to go back to the demo I'd try the VCore 98 to get a little more forgiveness and the Pure Aero 98 which seems to be really popular on the tour.

My main is the Vcore 95 (2023) like you. Before you commit to switching racquets try adding some lead in the head to up its swing weight. You'll probably get some better depth and pop. I think the racquet is a great blend of classic (e.g. feel, precision) and modern (e.g. more spin friendly).
Maybe also try leather grip

Loved the 23 Vcore 95, but it was lacking on serves and volleys. Give Tchnifibre a look, Tfight or TF 40 lines, the 315 models might be good if you like fast/whipy frames. I think the balance and SW are similar to the Vcore 95 and both should give a little more oomph

The VC95 feels good on serves because I can really whip it through the air. It doesn't feel as stable on volleys like my other rackets. I've demoed the TF40 315 and I fell in love with it. Agreed, super whippy. But it didn't have enough heft and stability on heavy returns so definitely felt like some lead tap would do it good.

I added a leather grip to my VC95 because I wanted to feel the bevels on the grip but it's made it even more whippy and perhaps too headlight. I tried adding some lead tape to 3 and 9 but it felt off -- I'm not sure if my placement was odd since the head has a tear drop shape. So then I moved the lead tape to 12 o'clock instead and it feels much better.

Did you find a setup for the vc95? I’ve got a leather grip and trying to find the best place for lead

I find that putting lead at the top or between there and 10/2 is a good set up so you get a tiny bit more plow without sacrificing the stability that is the strength of the VC95. (as opposed to placing lead at 3/9)

That’s how I have it set up right now. I put it slightly above at the widest point

Yeah. I put 2 grams at 12 and it felt way better. At first I tried it at 10 and 2 (ish) because of the head shape but it seemed to throw it totally off and felt weird.

After putting it at 12, the balance felt better and it gave it a bit more incremental free power.
