How to beat Djoker

This is just my opinion, but last nights match confirmed my belief, even Djoke acknowledged my opinion.

Djoke is like a steroided out anatomy chart, just a machine. But he's programmed to stay behind the baseline and make those incredible shots, and once he's in a groove, that is his mind, his position, he is near unbeatable.

But mix it up, take him out of his Rythmn, and he doesn't just lose points, he FALLS APARTS. First set last night, against Fed in London and Cincy, give him short shots, get him grimicing, shrugging his shoulders, do drop shots (Like Tomic), and he falls apart-bad.

When he's with say Nadal, Nadal plays Djokers game, so it's who can focus best, best shape, and other small intagibles, but do short shots, take him at the net, get him moving and frustrated, and he loses BAD, I mean 6-1 Wawrinka? That was NOT Djoke playing bad, just an aggresive player taking Djoker out of his element.

Don't misunderstand, I may not be a fan personally, but Djoke is AWESOME, those shots are off the chart.

If you notice, when Wawrinka stayed back, and the rallies went long, Djoke would get into his rythmn, but when Wawa would mix it up, Djoke fell apart.

Anyways, just my opinion, INCREDIBLE MATCH. I was going to sleep, thought "Well I'll just watch a few minutes, never know, then at what 6am with the sun coming up I'm still watching this thing. Felt bad for Wawa, he cried afterwords, but heh great exposure for him, and a confidence builder.

How to beat Djoker?

Blast him off the court AND a powerful serve. It's the only way,

You can't outgrind him. Staying in a rally longer is better for Djokovic.

You can't volley when he's a god at passing shots.

Sustained blasting is something rare nowadays but it will happen sooner or later. It happened to Nadal.

Really, you need to have belief and just go for broke.

You tight with Djokovic? What school did y'all go to back in the days?

A lot of the tour guys acknowledged my opinion on beating Djokovic too:

#1 Bomb 130+mph serves, and get most of them in.
#2 Paint lines and corners and blow him off the court.

But the guys on the tour are telling me there is one big problem with that strategy:

It's hard to sustain it for the whole match.

He admitted it last night Mr. Sin.

The fact is defense beats offense since no one can hit winners an entire match. This is why Nadal and Djoker win.

If the courts were faster those miracle gets wouldn't be a factor, but sadly orders tennis is all about sowing down courts and punishing the attacking player.

Djokers split gets aren't fun to watch after a while, wold rather see the all court game get rewarded.

if you can execute this 'strategy' you can pretty much beat anyone, not just djokivic, imo..

Uh, this is the holy grail of tennis, not just the template to beat one specific player.

Who are you going to lose to you if you serve 4 aces per game, hit un-reachable winners off your opponent's serve and make no errors?

I could be a tennis coach if all I had to do was tell my players to: "hit aces and winners and you should be ok."

Best way to beat Djokovic? Get it done in 4 sets or less (Fed at the French '11 and Wimbledon '12, and Nadal at the French '12).

Unless your name's Andy Murray, the only guy in the top 5 to beat Djokovic in a 5th set.

Or grease his shoes.

Change the pace of your shots up, get to the net, keep your serve big, you can beat him.

Hes not unbeatable. In 2011, moreso... But not now

Stan takes him to 5 hours on his best surface.. Obviously Nole is not playing "unbeatable" tennis now

WAw could have beat Djoker He just made unforced again and again after a great winner in the last game. Djoker just kept getting balls back and no high risk winner

Stan ain't that great of a player. Dunno why this board is hyping him up so much. It's over for him now - he won't achieve even another R4 of a slam in his career.

And the fact that Stan took Djokovic to 5 is best quickly forgotten by Djokovic fans.

Exactly..

If Stan can take Nole to 5 at the AO.. Why would anyone think Nole is playing unbeatable tennis? 2 years ago Nole would have whiped his butt with Stan at the AO and flushed.

so aggressive junkballing is the solution? worth a try i suppose.

I don't see many people other than murray winning a defensive grinder (i.e. pusher, embrace it) contest with him, perhaps Nadal is a threat when he is more aggressive and not just focusing on his particular brand of craven retrieval.

Here's how

  • No1. Good serve. I remember when Fed beat Novak in French Open 2011, and that was Novak .. not 2.0, but F-in 7.0 . Novak won like 42 matches in a row. And key of Federer win was his good and consistent serve.

  • No2. You can't choke. If you have opportunity to break him, you need to go for it, and just take your chanse. If you choke, next thing you'll know, Novak will win like 5 games in a row.

  • No3. You need some luck. You need to hang in with Novak through out the match, and then at the end, sometimes you just need a little bit of luck.

Those three are the key I believe.

Stan won more games thatn Djoker last night, and lost over one point, that point could have gone either way as Djoke admitted.
