Tig would move from 64 —> 58 with the win, would pass Pegula who has herself had an awesome recent stretch

either way, congrats to Bouchard for actually grinding through qualifying and well into the main draw this week, something she rarely is willing to do, as I’ve beaten a dead horse about previously

Genie won the 1st set of the final 6-2, but is trailing in the 2nd 0-2. I know she will lose this match, but it was a great effort nonetheless.

Big time drama in the 3rd as she comes back from 1-4 to tie it up at 4-4, then loses the break at 4-5, then rebreaks yet again for 5-5.

She did fend off 6 championship points (?), but that was more of a case of winner being unclutch, but Bouchard is incredibly unclutch, she had the match if she wanted it.

Tough loss but she fought well esp saving all those match points. But it was there for the taking! New respect for her fight back. Is there a new maturity here that could keep her somewhat relevant for another 4/5 years?

Maybe she is modest no? And she had lost her father 3 months ago.
Besides she almost did it last June when she was unseeded!
And she probably doesn't have a sponsor while these 25K could only go as far...

Congrats to the second ranked (now) Romanian player (after Simona Halep), Patricia Maria Tig!
And to her coach husband, former ATP #74 Razvan Sabau!

GS tennis is after all, a story of hope, of comebacks and Genie’s win or loose; will generate a lot of good press for Roland Garros worldwide. Plus, she now really trying to win and come back in her career! :giggle:

It would be great to see her get by a couple of rounds at RG, and put herself back in the picture, if even just on the fringe!

Bouchard run has ended in the 3rd round! Swiatek‘s game was superior today! 6-3, 6-2 Swiatek! Much better run at a GS for Bouchard then many seeded players! I think Bouchard will be in the 130s after RG. If she won her match, inside the 100s! Bouchard did good! :giggle:

Didn't see the match....was over when I looked for it. In all, Genie has had a good two weeks and hopefully she will get herself back into main draws next year.

The 19-year-old Pole produced a devastating performance against the 2018 champion to storm into a maiden Grand Slam quarter-final.


The 54th-ranked Swiatek, a former Wimbledon junior champion and Roland-Garros junior doubles champion, fired 30 winners and won 81 per cent of her first-serve points, wrapping up the win in just 68 minutes.

It took me alot of research since there no draw sheet for qualifying and no results reported.
I found info on a betting website!:rolleyes:

Nice to see this thread not be toxic like it used to be. I guess now that she's #163 in the world or whatever nobody cares, but man did she ever get hate when she was higher up in the rankings.

I don't even care, she's still my Queen! God damn....
