OK enough of the rude stuff. We do need a Kokkinakis thread, so here it is.

Godspeed, Kokkinakis!

Thoughts on this young talent?

Are you sure you wanna stand in front of him tho? :p

Hope this one's here to stay :)

I had a lot of fun while it lasted.

....................As for the second part of your post though — having addressed the first part — I hope so.

I feel this thread is in lack of a petit something, can't quite put my finger on it. Other than that, I think erecting this thread was the right choice.

May tremendous force be with the 'nakis.

I think you just narrowly missed out on my first glorious attempt at this thread. Tragic, believe me.

Alas, it ended up being a micro-thread.............

You changed the title, didn't you? ;)

Old thread deleted.

I feel like the unnecessary deletion of the previous threads has just birthed a new TT running gag

Thread lacks the quite important title which will be used a lot in the future to describe the future GOAT and, who knows, maybe one day king - Prince Kokki.

Still, its' good.

Huh. Just heard that Kokkinakis only got a last minute wild card for Queens, which made him fly to Queens from his home in Australia on Sunday. It's no wonder he looked kinda drained, the time difference from Australia to England is insane and the jet lag must have caught up with him. Hopefully this bodes well for his Wimby preparation.

Just shows how badly he wants it. That's not just based on that story either. This isn't exactly the first time something like this has happened IIRC. He's very very driven.

Must have been hard on him.

Anyway, if we all stand in front of Kokki, won't we be stumbling blocks?

Good win by Kokk given the circumstances, his grandmother is very sick back home hence his last minute rush to the tournament following a late wildcard.

He's got a great future but we shouldn't overhype him. The biggest win of his career was Gulbis at the AO and given Gulbis's year, it's not a spectacular feat (not taking away from kokks performance). His next best win by ranking was Tomic who is terrible on clay. He's shown he can defeat higher ranked players but he's pretty much yet to defeat a top 20 player.

Early days but i think hes the pick of the young aussies, possibly all the young guys. Has more fight than kyrgios and tomic. Top 30 by years end would not be out of the question. He really pushed djokovic at the french. yeh djokovic won in straight but 6-4 is a tight set. Hes only 19 and still has alot he can improve on. Thats the big upside.

Top 50 probably, doubtful about top 30 as he's only defeated 4 top 30 players. But that's still pretty good considering on the ATP tour he's 11-19. He hasn't played much.
He has good fight and will be great at slams in 5 set matches. I wouldn't call him my pick of the Aussies, especially following Tomic's strong year and Kyrgios good performances at a few events.

But it will be awesome to have 3 top players. Maybe next year Australia will have 3 players in the top 30 :D

that name keeps associating with Thanatos *dread*

Wrong. Thanasi comes from Athanasios, which means "the one who does not die", so it is closer to immortality than it is to death.

Immortal Prince Kokki takes the stage… Soon in theaters close to you

Grass is his least favorite surface, in fact bar Kyrgios it seems to be where all of the new prospects post their poorest results. Hope he can make 2R/3R either is good at this stage.

I am hopeful for his future on grass. He has the all court skills he needs.

Tall, yes (1.96m). Big serve/FH combo. Steady but not spectacular BH. Great fighter!
Okay, shall keep an eye out for him. But I basically only get to see what the telly shows, and that means the two main courts. So if he is up against a top player or a Brit, they could show him.

There are a few decent youtube vids with him.

Whether he is in Australia or Wimdlebon, either way there is huge ocean between the two of you.
So worry not, fellow traveler in this journey of life. Only the Poobah has inter-continental range !
