Do you really think his endorsements depend on whether he continues to play or not?

Ehm..if he played he would be making more money if he didn't.That's what I think.

he will still continue to make money from endosements. with his carisma and will still be very popular companies will still want him to promote thier product. as far money goes i doudt he will ever be hurting.

Many endorsement deals require the player to play a certain number of tournaments: for instance, I would assume that at least Head would want Agassi to continue to be active on the tour as well as Adidas. If the player is no longer visable then a fan (after a time) will not be influenced to invest in a player's gear. Agassi has made countless millions for products he has endorsed over the years, but whatever contracts he is under now will probably just eventually fizzle out as he removes himself from the lime-light. Though, I will venture a guess that he will be enticed by short term endorsement deals between now and the final of the US Open (which he will reach and de-throne Fed btw) and possibly shortly after the culmination of his career due to the attention tennis fans all over the world will be paying to one of the greatest to ever play the game. Companies will count on the seemingly endless nostalgia fans of any sport possess and will want to capitalize on such. However, I think as true tennis fans we should concentrate on the passing of sorts of an idol in Andre and should consider the man and not the endless barrage of subliminal (and not so subliminal) advertising we must endure as we celebrate his accomplisments as a player and philanthropist in the wake of his ever waning career. In closing, let me be the first to advocate one hell of a send off at the Open this year; one last hurrah for one of my heroes - here comes number nine.

He would not have success. He would be lucky to get out of the 3rd round of any event. It is clear too many injuries to play at a respectable level for such a great player anymore. He has lost so much since even the U.S Open last year.

Well, he has one more big event left and I believe that the occasion will simply outweight the injuries and everything else that is hanging over his head. I am adamant that he has a chance to win seven matches in two weeks at the Open and walk away with one more major under his belt. Remember Connors in '91? He was thirty-nine and with the will he went to the semi's. Agassi deserves our respect and I for one am totally behind him. If he wants it bad enough, and those behind him want it bad enough for him he can go the distance one final time. I believe that his final bow will coinicide with one of his greatest triumphs.

Did you see him play at Wimbledon? The injuries have caught up to him, he needed the help of the crowd to even win his first round. His level of play is less then half of what it was at the U.S Open last year, and even there he had to compete like a monster to win all those 5 setters to reach the final.

If his back held up he'd get closer to the form he was in 2005.

Remember, he has barely played any matches all year, mostly because of that ankle injury he had last year which tore all of the ligaments. If his back held up, he had the drive and the will to win, then he'd go back into the top 10.

But it's the combination of family life and the bad back that has forced him to retire. And it is the right time.

if andre played more year, he may win the us open only if fed and nadal is injured...
And Nalbandian, and Ljubicic, and Ancic... perhaps even AND Blake (if he manages to keep it to 4 sets instead of 5. If the match goes to 5 sets, Blake loses)

I think Andre established himself last year as one of the best hardcourters in the world. He only lost to Federer and Nadal on hardcourts. So why should Ancic have to be injured for him to have a chance?

LAST year is the key word.
This year, he's not even on the level he was LAST year. A proof of that is HIM losing to Nadal on grass.
