If I'm a 3.5, should I use a Players' Raquet or Tweener?

I read an old thread about the pros and cons of using Players' Racquet if you're 3.0 - 4.0 player instead of a tweener racquet because you will grow into that Players' Racquet. I'm split between these two. Any opinions to help clear my confusion?

Basing your racquet choice on your USTA level makes little sense. You need to base it on your playing style more than anything. For example, if you are a baseliner who likes to hit loopy deep shots, then a "spin" racquet would work for you. I know many 4.0-4.5 players that use an oversize, head heavy, light racquet very well.

Also you need to base it on your preferred specs: power level, head size, string pattern, sweet spot size, stiffeness/flex, swingweight and static weight. You need to figure these things out to narrow down your choices. I would do it in this order:

1- figure out what swingweight feels right for you - not too heavy, not too light
2- figure out what power level suits you. You should be able to keep rally balls deep with a 75% swing.
3- figure out if you prefer a flexy or stiff/firm feel
4- what headsize do you feel most comfortable with?

Once you know these things, you can really find something that suits you. Or you can take the "try a bunch of demos until one feels right" approach.

When you ask for opinions in a forum like this, what you will get is 75% of the responses are people suggesting THEIR favorite frames. There will be some good advice mixed in, but you will be so confused with all the choices hurled at you, you won't know who's trying to help and who's just pushing their own choices on you. Bottom line....figure things out on your own and demo demo demo.

Since your ability is 4.0 max, I would suggest staying away from any pure "players" frames. There are plenty of middle ground racquets that won't slow you down now and you won't outgrow until you become 5.0.
A good starting point is 100" headsize, 300 grams unstrung (you can always add weight), 65-70 flex. Something like the Graphene Speed MP or Prince Warrior Pro. The PS95 is way over your head. The V1 Pro may work out,
but it's a rather unique frame that not everyone likes.

@JackB1 I have a full swing, Semi-Western forehand, and 2-hand backhand. I'm an all-court player.

ok then, that means you may not need a lot of power from the racquet.
I think something like the Speed MP, Blade 98 or Radical MP would work.

but again, there are more variables than that. Find your preferred swingweight and headsize.

Low swingweight, 98-100 sq in. headsize.
