FYI - If you search on the internet, you find the following statement over and over regarding the ITF Junior tour:

"Junior tournaments do not offer prize money except for the Grand Slams"

What you do see for ITF junior tournaments is "Hospitality" where main draw players and their coaches can receive free hotel and meals, etc.

Yeah, Same with NCAA, you can accept money up to the amount you spent to get there, basically to cover you costs and then you can accept "gifts" like string etc. But the rule is so vague I have had friends of mine win money tournaments as juniors and just say expenses such as gas, shoes, string, rackets etc and end up taking all the money in these "expenses".

ok fair enough if you still want to be an amatuer. Lets say that a national level junior spends $12,000 traveling to tournaments, strings, Rackets, shoes, and any other expense u can think of.
Now the same kid plays money tournaments at home when he is not traveling, lets say in 4 months of weekend tournaments he earns $3,000...as far as I am concerned he is still an amatuer!!!!!

To me it sounds like a good system to play matches and earn money at the same time...but of course all of the people that hate prize money tournaments will post about how its a bad idea. The US is living about 20 or 30 years behind western europe as far as tennis is concerned

Increase the minimum number of players from two...

to three hold an event, especially for the younger age kids playing in novice/challengers. Right now, my understanding of the rules is, if 2 players sign up for an event, than it will be held. With 3 (or more) players, than at least the tournament people can change the format to round robin, so that the kids can play two matches instead of one, to gain more experience...in addition to making a 100 round trip to a tournament worthwhile.

No short sets to 4 (probably only in bloody england)

yeah i agree it sucks i'd rather play 6 games than 4 in one set. i'd also banish the red group orange group green group and yellow group thing aswell because its stupid those balls are horrible and playing half court is rubbish they only play in the cross boxes. i've watched the little kids play and it looks messed up. i started on full court with a yellow ball so why dont they do the same. the lta needs to fix its self.I've also played with those balls at my club they bouce really rubbishly because they are big and deflated a little especially the red ones.

I happen to agree in that prize money should be made available. Additionally, the companies we support (string, clothing, shoe, racquet, etc) should support the development by budgeting money for gift bags containing items these kids can use to further develop themselves.

Since money is out of the question here in the US. I think vouchers that have some type of redemption value for travel or merchandise can easily be implemented.

1) no more 8 game pro sets and ten point tiebrakers!

2) More tournaments on grass

3) separate doubles ranking

4) Crack down on cheaters/poor sports

5) No more 8:00 A.M. start times

6) Outside night matches under the lights

7) Stop giving me bad draws and giving good ones to my friends

8 ) Allow coaching in between sets

Agreed on everything except the coaching. Especially the early start times.

The thing with the early start times is that a lot of these tournaments have a large entry list. And there are rules about how late certain age groups can play. The tournaments only have a certain amount of courts and to get all the matches in 8:00 starts are sometimes necessary.
