There is a question arising in my mind if you could watch only 6 months of tennis and that is either from Jan to June or July to December, which option would you chose, both options have 2 slams each, option 1 has 5 master 1000s, option 2 has 4 and wtf. Also consider your time zone as a thing in deciding your preference. This is only a hypothetical situation so chose without being comical about it....I personally am in a tussle as to which to chose from master 1000+ slam standpoint option 1 looks best to me but from slam standpoint only option 2 is better due to Wimbledon also get Wtf in it.

I chose Option 2. I get Wimbledon and the U.S. Open which are my 2 favorite tournaments. I also get the WTF, Davis Cup Finals, and (as a bonus) the Olympics every 4 years. As far as time zones, the Aussie Open is tough for me. I'm one of those lightweights who need a regular night of sleep, so it can be difficult to watch as much AO as I want.

damn to be honest over the years I've really enjoyed AO( not called the happy slam for nothing) and then few hard court tournaments after that and then ofcourse grass season. so its most likely January-April, and then late to June to July.

Similar reason I prefer option 1 as aussie and french are good for my timezones although Wimbledon I love also enjoy Us open but I rarely watch it that well due to time issues

Start of Jan to end june is only allowed in this option which means no wimbledon

I'll pick the second half.

The thing about the current ATP is that it don't really matter which half you choose. Grinder's Tour means that everybody plays exactly the same way all year long. Which is why if I only got 6 months of tennis, I wouldn't be missing much.

AO to Wimby without question. It has 3 GSs, it has the best Masters, it has the HC, clay and grass season.. the second half is usually not as fun and the season almost seems dead after USO these days..

oh wait Wimbledon is in july.. then it’s tough

Horrible options as I consider January to be the best single month of tennis in the season, but there is absolutely no way I am missing Wimbledon. That is like not watching the Superbowl, the FIFA World Cup, Wrestlemania, Mr Olympia or the Olympics. What is the point of watching tennis if I cannot watch Wimbledon.

Tough call. My favorite 6-month part of the season would be from March to August (Sunshine Double, Clay season, Wimbledon, and the first week of the US Open).

If I had to choose, and if picking April-September is not an option, then I'd pick Jan-Jun. The second half of the year between these idiots all being woeful on grass, everyone struggling with physical injuries or mental strains late in the season, the something less than a 1000 that is Paris Bercy, and the really major players pretty much winding down their seasons and seeking to play less make the second half less enticing in isolation.

My only real issue with the first half of the year is that the time difference to Australia makes it the most difficult to watch as much tennis from, but that's less an issue nowadays with VOD. That month and a half-ish gap between Australia and Indian Wells is kind of annoying, but then in the second half you have both the post-Wimbledon break, and the so called end of year off season which is over a month too.

So yeah, January to June, fresher players, more meaningful major tournaments, and 3 surfaces worth of goodness instead of just the two you get in the second half.

You know it's a good question, as it presents a dilemma - and so many are trying to change the terms of it!

I may enjoy the tennis a little more in the first half, even though the AO time difference makes me a zombie for two weeks. The second half gives us Wimbledon (W and RG are my two favorites to watch) and a culmination to the season (and who will be YE#1), though I really don't like the ATP Finals. Okay, by the narrowest if margins, the second half. I think...

Exactly you got my point the way others are answering even i can chose the period that way but that's not why I asked

Why the clay season of 2003?
Ferrero winning Chelem.

Although I live in Australia and the AO is my favourite tournament, I'd take the second half. I have no interest in clay court tennis, in fact I haven't watched any in over 30 years. Hence, the second half of the year has more tennis for me.
