Indian Wells wild cards announced

Hey Andy, time to stop begging tournaments for wild cards and put an end to this farce!
Why do you care? One of 400 such posts from random Murray-hating trolls. It's always hilarious to see the amount of hate Andy stirs up when he's not been relevant in tournaments for several years.

Anway, Murray's won 3 slams and is 50 times the player any next gen guy is. Larry Ellison and Tommy Haas are correct to give Muzz the WC.

As long as Murray isn't drawn for yet another match against Hubi I like his chances of getting QFs and maybe even further
Brooksby is an interesting prospect, let's see how he is after the summer
And ofc Clijsters and Raducanu should be interesting to see as slam champions of old and new respectively

Sheesh!! McNally is quickly becoming a wildcard queen. She is an average singles player at best.

If you get McNally you also get a very popular (at least in the US) doubles team. It’s a very easy WC choice for IW.

Brooksby is well deserved: both results and crowd interest.

I just saw them play and I’m aware of their general resuits. The WC is to ensure she shows instead of elsewhere for singles.:sneaky:
Where the hell else is she going to go for singles?? There are no other WTA events. Oh sure she’s going to pass up Masters 1000 doubles prize money in Indian Wells to play singles at the ITF 25K in Redding, CA :-D :-D :-D

How should I know. Ask someone that follows WTA. Yeh, Redding then.(y)

Looks pretty nice.

Didn’t you come up with the brilliant theory that the wildcard was to “ensure” that she showed up for the singles draw? Maybe a bit of knowledge that there really isn’t much happening tournament wise would have helped before making that giant reach theory.

I don’t really follow tennis so stop picking on me. On the bright side, I kinda want to go hiking in Redding.:)

PS, I still like my theory and apparently so does the IW WC person/committee. CM draws a crowd in singles as well by virtue of her name from doubles.

Giving an old out of shape Kim a wild card is unfair to younger players. Chances are, she will lose in the first round again. Does she need first round money that bad, or is she bored with her family?

Maybe she just loves tennis and wanted to play.

KIm is a multiple slam champ and a class act. Nothing wrong with giving her a WC.

It's even less of a big deal at Indian Wells with a 96 woman field. Maybe you could make a case at the smaller field 1000 level tournaments, but at IW, who cares?

Enough people have dropped in the last 24 hours that Brooksby is now in on his own ranking. A new WC will be announced later to replace him.

Still no announcement on whom the 5th wild carr will be and now we are one drop away from Andy's wild card being freed up.

Still think Botic Van De Zandschulp should get a WC. Perhaps JJ Wolf.

Van De Zandschulp made the USO QFs but JJ Wolf is legit good. It’s a tough call.:giggle:

Men:
Andy Murray
Jenson Brooksby
Jack Sock
Zachary Svajda
Holger Rune
Rune's a great choice but Svajda :)
Women:
Kim Clijsters
Emma Raducanu (previously announced)
Caty McNally
Katie Volynets
Claire Liu
Katrina Scott
Ashlynn Krueger
Elsa Jaquemot
Kim, Emma and Caty are excellent choices but I am wondering why the WTA's WCs are so uncomparable to the ATP ones

Yup. Coco’s net play is not at CMac level. Many CMac serves, the opponent would put a screamer at Coco at net. She’d dump it into the net.
Coco's got to fix her character and receive service in the doubles situation better too. The young kid's got an ego and lack of patience on a top spin service.

As if Andy is "begging" tournaments to let him compete, rather than the other way around.

The popularity of tennis - and, especially, men's tennis - has been in a steep decline in recent years.

The Big 4 have "laid the golden egg" for the ATP for nearly 15 years - but now, alas, "the geese" are no longer a gaggle.

Sir Andrew will be one of the biggest drawcards on the bill at Indian Wells for the average American.
