Man that poll sure is close! real tough decisionIs Karatsev the worst GS SF opponent in history?
It'll be tough to make "Berettni Open" jokes with this cakewalk.LOL!
Is Karatsev the worst GS SF opponent in history?
There's no such thing. You're either a top dog or you're trash. /sYa know, rather than saying so-and-so is the worst player to make a GS SF, why don't we marvel at any player who hits a hot streak at the right time? Sure, there have been other unseeded and unheralded players who've gone far (or even won) a Grand Slam in the past, but even if they don't win, it's an amazing accomplishment. With the level of talent on both tours, sometimes it's unbelievable that there's not more breakthroughs. I congratulate Karatsev for never giving up on his dream of playing in the bigs, and for riding his talent and determination to this point!

Right!? The negativity on this board can be unbelievable at times...
this is officially the "Karatsev Open"
Reported for douchery.
Career High ranking of 28, won a title, has around a 50% win percentage.Patrick McEnroe
I didn't see your thread, relax.
Ever seen him play?Career High ranking of 28, won a title, has around a 50% win percentage.
Whoever reaches a GS SF cannot be bad. If ever someone would deserve the label “worst SF of all time” it would be a player who wouldn’t really have earned it like saying the theoretical case of two or more walkovers or retirements of his opponent, but not a player who beat solid competition like Schwartzman, Dimitrov and FAA.
100% correct.Whoever reaches a GS SF cannot be bad. If ever someone would deserve the label “worst SF of all time” it would be a player who wouldn’t really have earned it like saying the theoretical case of two or more walkovers or retirements of his opponent, but not a player who beat solid competition like Schwartzman, Dimitrov and FAA.
If only...this is officially the "Karatsev Open"
If Rublev gets to semi, he isn't exactly a huge challenge100% correct.
He beat three "name" players fair and square. Deserves it.
The fact that Rafa fans are upset that Novak won't have a huge challenge in the semis whereas Rafa will is a whole other issue. That's just how draws work. Rafa's early draw was easier than Novak's but now it's the opposite.
Then again, if Rublev outplays an in-form Medvebear, then by definition he absolutely is a challenge. If Rublev gets to semi, he isn't exactly a huge challenge
No. We're witnessing the greatest sandbagging of all timeIs Karatsev the worst GS SF opponent in history?
KaraGOAT?No. We're witnessing the greatest sandbagging of all time
He also barely won the QF, in 5 sets.Washington was the worst I've seen, think it was Todd Martin who gifted him a place in the Final from 5-1 up
If he were playing anyone but Novak, I would be rooting for him as I enjoy seeing a journeyman make good, at least once."Worst" or not he earned his place there with some great tennis. If you saw him play last year this level he's playing isn't a huge surprise.
You compared him to Karatsev, who has never played a main draw. Never said he was a great slam semi-finalist, just mentioned the numbers because its not even close between Karatsev and him.Ever seen him play?
Oozes talent, right?
Those numbers are impressive...................... for someone else maybe. Not for a slam semi-finalist.
If he were playing anyone but Novak, I would be rooting for him as I enjoy seeing a journeyman make good, at least once.
NOIs Karatsev the worst GS SF opponent in history?
I have a feeling he will not be a one-hit wonder.Lets watch him play before we come to a conclusion. It all depends on if he brings it or not.
