Is the biggest individual threat to Djokovic winning CGS next year a 37-year-old who hasn’t played in almost a year?

After Djokovic made Alcaraz cry at Cincy and crushed his spirit in Turin, and with Alcaraz constantly playing and losing practice sets against Djoker, I am no longer sure that he will be a bigger threat to Djokovic at any individual slam than Nadal will be at RG if he gets fit. I think Djokovic’s own desire to schedule carefully to win Olympic Gold will be more of a factor in chasing the Calendar Slam than the level of anyone in the field.. except for Nadal at RG

Djokovic can't wait to play with Nadal, he said it himself crowd needs at least 1 more match between them.
And I can't wait too to see how he handles weak era.

Too early to say this. We have no idea how Nadal will look after not playing for about a year.

He will have brutal draws too and he will not be match tough. Need to see how his body holds up. It could easily be a Federer 2021 type comeback.

At moment I’d say Alcaraz, sinner, Rune, medvedev and maybe Zverev are the biggest threats to him.

Nadal even on clay is an unknown.

Alcaraz and a healthy Nadal are the only 2 threats to Djovak in BO5

I doubt Djokovic wins CYGS anyway.
"Doubt" is way too gentle of a word. The CYGS has been done once in the last 54 years. That's 216 straight slams where it's not been done. The statistical probability of a 37 year old doing is about .0001%, but it brought up every year as if it a done deal.

Craig Tiley seems pretty certain that Nadal will be ready for the 2024 AO?

I'm looking forward to what draw might be carefully alchemised for the Spanish prince.

Most people get bored of Nadal's boring game as well. Your own thread got nuked. Not many got too excited by the return this time.

Nolefams hold the line.

Just goes to show the pathetic field we have right now

Nah it’s still Alcaraz because it’s too early to even gauge Nadal’s chances here.

Hope the kid gets it together tho. The last couple of months were not ideal.

In Paris with a temperature of 40 degrees in summer, Nadal beats everyone, including your idol.

Tiley's two best friends are the Swiss chocolate and the Serbian bad wolf.

1 match away as a 34 year old and then 1 set away as a 36 year old, so there's no reason not to talk about it. It's rather obvious that his odds are better than 0.0001% at this point.

Novak (and Rafa/Fed) have made a career out of doing the unprecedented.

Nadal is not a threat to anyone, the old man is making a comeback so that he can bid farewell.... he is not a threat to anyone anywhere.

Only Alcaraz and the 2000s born boys are a threat to Djokovic..... not some geriatric old guy who will be almost 38...

I’d agree chances are very slim but he is coming off a 3 slam season so clearly playing well enough vs the field. Also, although Laver was not 37 years old, he was also certainly no spring chicken. So an older player winning the CYGS in this day and age seems more probable than someone younger.

Djoko was a missed high forehand away from CYGS+WTF. He can definitely do it next year. We haven't seen anything from any player aside from Alcaraz to threaten Djokovic.
