Off court he wasn't a lot of fun, compared to Agassi, Ivanisevic, Rafter etc. Especially at the beginning of his career he was the Anti-Agassi.
That is why I was SHOCKED as hell to have read that article...I was googling for federer news, and unfortunately I found this ignorant and bigoted article...and not just on seedy websites but on E-ONLINE (!!!)... That is why I was so shocked at some American's attitude towards non-American greats...the ignorance, and the disdain...maybe its just this lady...but..anyways...
Grow the hell up. Please?
Seriously, this is one writer's OPINION, emphasis on opinion. By the way, she did make some accurate points did she not, so she is not completely ignorant? Or is it your contention that Roger is just as charismatic as Conners and McEnroe?
You seem stuck on the likeablilty comparison to Ashe and Sampras, but again that is just her opinion.
McEnroe wasn't much liked back in the day. People like him NOW, but not when he was the bad boy of tennis. The crowd always sided against him at Wimbledon.
Federer plays a boring baseline game that is very boring to watch. If Federer was an attacking serve and volleyer like Sampras and McEnroe then I would not hate him but unfortunately all of Federer's matches put me to sleep. Nadal plays a rare left handed top spin, physical and exciting tennis so I will always prefer Nadal over Federer. And now Donald Young is coming on the scene is like Nadal mixed with attacking serve and volley game and Donald Young is also way more entertaining to watch than Federer.

Exactly, I don't like when people start touting that this is "typical American" veiws of Roger. This lady is obviously ignorant of tennis and probably has watched Roger play once or twice.I wouldn't classify this as "typical American" ignorance. I would say this is a general non-tennis media ignorance, doesn't matter what country.

Don't bring Andy into this. This has nothing to do with him. (Even if you are joking, not sure.) This has to do with a ridiculous woman writing about what she does not know. What she doesn't know is tennis or it's players.sounds like she hangs out with a lot of ARod fans...
Of course she will................try next year .

"Acing machine Roger Federer is a tennis player who is so good at the game it's scary. Yet he doesn't have the charisma of Jimmy Connors and John McEnroe. His hair isn't flowy, like old-school Andre Agassi style. And he isn't anywhere near as likable as greats Arthur Ashe and Pete Sampras. So, even though he's technically an ace, Federer gets a lot of flack from tennis fans who say he isn't good for the game."
What the hell is this showbiz writer for e-online talking about?? Not as LIKEABLE as Sampras...uhmm...isn't Fed one of the most likeable athletes of all time by his peers? She makes it appear that Fed is an a-ssh_le. Is this typical American "layman" ignorance and foreigner-phobia?? Shocking...really.
BTW, isn't it "great" that she mentioned only American tennis players? hahahha...

Why am I talking about Roger Federer? Most of the movies coming out this weekend are kind of like Roger Federer: They don't hold up, they remind us of more exciting offerings. But that's not to say they outright suck (well, except for one, grrr). It's time to play, people
Kim, how do you feel about slanted eyes jokes? then shutup
