I used to use the old Muster strings. I am not sure the newer stuff is even close to it. I used the Professional Classic at that time. I wish I had some old sets of Muster to use. At least I could compare them side to side. The stiffness of the Professional and the Professional Classic are about the same ( 151 vs 152), as well as the Control and Control Classic ( 158 vs 154). I wish I knew what the differences were between the Classic and non Classic. I know the Control versions have an extra wrapped layer to make them have more control and the Professional versions have more "pop" per say.

Classic whether 16 or 17 is made of polyolyfin fibers, braided, twisted together and fused into a string. Control is a string with multifilaments sheathed with polyolyfin braids. I believe the Control versions are pre-stretched. {I could be wrong.] As for least stiff string. they all are muted and dead feeling strings. Pick your tension because below 50#, they are mushy [to me.] Head Rip Control is the ISO Classic.

Oh well forget all that then ! Esgee 48 Thank you so much! So head rip control is the old style isospeed ? Just to clarify the musters strings ? I too like the old version of muster strings I thought he played with plain professional 16 g isospeeds.. at least I think .. and I loved that old stuff but since they are not around anymore should I look for head rip control or professional 17 to get that old muster feel. I tried the control classic and didn’t like it all. So I thought maybe the professional 16 ? But it doesn’t come in 16 gauge . So finally if you want the old muster string what’s the closest string on the market to the old stuff
1. Head rip control or
2. Isospeed proffesional classic 17?
Or was the old muster strings all awhile the pro classic just in 16 g instead of 17? Ughhh I’m gettinh more confused as I type

I think Muster used the Iso Professional which is currently called Professional 17. Iso Control 16 is the 16 Ga equivalent according to the manufacturer. The all polyolyfin strings currently labelled Classic is not what I believe he used. IIRC, Muster used the PT280 18x20 which required a fairly lively string. Don't think he was concerned with longevity.
