NE1 Use: Isospd Control, Isospd Pro, Vanquish, or Tec Multifeel as a Cross?

Looking to add some power and some softness to my Prince TT Warrior without going away from my Solinco Tour Bite 1.20 mains.

The three strings I'm considering are:

Isospeed Control 16 (or Control Classic...I have no idea of the difference)

Isospeed Professional 17 (or Pro Classic...again, have no idea of the difference)

Solinco Vanquish 17

Tecnifibre Multifeel 17

Has anyone tried any of these strings as a cross with a poly main? If so, what are your thoughts?

Thanks.

Isospeed Control 16, my favorite multi to use as a cross so far, 2nd only to NatGut. Playability wise it's hard to beat, only knock is its durability, but who wants a poly hybrid to last forever.

Vanquish was a good cross.... If only I could afford stringing it every week. It always broke but I guess that's good since I don't have to worry about Tour Bite going dead.

some long time ago, in a different stick than i use today i have used:
- isospeed professional (new) 17: awesome in my opinion, but a completely different feel than eny multi i have used. i think it is o love it or hate it string, which also seems to be quite tension sensitive. i must have hit it right at that time combined with kirschbaum competition 1.20 mains. whenever i'm going to play it again i prepare myself though to go through some different tension setups if i'm not lucky again on my first bet.

- the vanquish i played in 1.30mm (16ga) and it was soft but dull and dead. i had it in a prepacked hybrid with the 1.20 tour bite, which i play right now and crosses with a similarly soft string, the mantis comfort synthetic, it is a really enjoyable hit. now, the mcs is not powerful by any means, but it simply does not mute the crisp feel of the mains, it somehow does not get in the way of the mains unfolding ist characteristics.

- the multifeel i played also in 1.30 and obviously the old version, as i understand that they have changed the string. it was an experience i would have liked to skip - completely lackluster performance and one of the shortestlived hits i had at that time in an 18x19 frame - slightly more than two hitting hours. i might nevertheless give the new formulation a chance, when i'm done with my syngut crosses testing.

shangri la,

i might be wrong but i think the control has a solid core while the professional does not.

Control Classic and Professional Classic (16 and 17 respectively) are the old models.
Control (16) and Professional (17) are the upgrades.

checked up the isospeed site and my memory was obviously wrong - the string with a solid core is the "energetic", not the "control". so, yes, the control basically is the "thicker" professional.

Stick with the Classic version of Isospeed if you down that path. They are much better than the newer version.

I really like the classic pro version. Just a bit muted for me. Works really nicely with gut mains in the Mojo setup.

With the Isospeed 'Classic' strings it suggests waxing the mains before putting in the crosses...does anyone really do this?

I do that when stringing myself. I *think* the reason is that the string has quite an initial tension drop; you want to minimize friction from the mains and be sure that the string is fully tensioned.
