Djokovic 3.0 began right there, the beast was awakened once again. There was spark in his eyes once again after that point was robbed from him.

The rest is history as we know it, 8 out of the 12 slams afterwards.

was this a major turning point in tennis history, ladies & gentlemen? I surely think that now. Its very underrated imho.

Without this moment & rejuvenation taking place right there, he'd not have regained his mojo back and may even have called quits by 2019 the way his entire 2018 season was shaping up to that point (lowest ranking since 12 years, losing to Paire-Cecchinato-Klizan-Edmund etc, vs former pigeons like Cilic from match points)..

In my opinion 2014 Wimbledon was where the entire slam race turned on its head completely. Djoker was 0/5 in his last slams, had frustrating losses to Nadal, Federer and even Murray, and then he pulls 2014 Wimby off and it kickstarts arguably the best year of his career in 2015.

Other theorists will likely say “that was when the tour weakened” but 2014 Federer was still a monstrous challenge considering the crowd and what had happened in 2012/13.

That will forever be the biggest Slam of Novak’s career and likely the biggest of the Slam race to me.

Coric was a form player when Djokovic beat him, having had deep runs at each of the US hard court Masters the previous month, almost beating Federer at Indian Wells.

Klizan and Edmund were both bad defeats, but at Rome he started looking good again.

By Queen's it was clear the level was there. He comprehensively beat everybody in his path and almost beat Cilic, who was a defending Wimbledon finalist.
