on clay his passivity can make his shots (esp forehand) ripe for crushing, which is how almagro blasted through him last year. match against nadal last year shows he's pretty far away at wimbledon too.

I agree and also his ability to return big serves will pay zero dividends. His flat serve which gets him points off clay will also not be useful.

He is going to struggle on clay, probably a average qf or less imo.

Going to do well on grass imo.

But it isn't an interesting match-up. Can you see people watching this slow, non-aggressive baseline slug-fest week in week out?

nope. i like watching monfils play it, but you get a million players in monfils, it's like he's playing tennis for the first time, but for his life, every time, working it out as he goes.

this isn't great, i think the wind has a lot to do with it. there are some players who will stay true to attackattackattack, gasquet, gonzalez, blake, now gulbis. they may not hit no.1 in the world but there will always be showmen.

Murray needs to be a little more aggressive when in dominant positions. It seems he is just content to put the ball in play.

he will do well on grass, but it's going to take a coupla years. i see guys who can have a hot match on grass and take him down, for now. and i see nadal, lol.

there's the break, and we can be relieved that that game is over.

Man Murray's shirt looks like a flag blowing on a flagpole it's so windy out there.

He's a pusher. That works against Fed because Fed is mentally weak, but against Rafa, Murray is useless.

As I have said before he isn't a pusher, he is just a very clever player. Before AO 2009 Nadal wasn't the agrressive player he is now as well. Nadal used to be quite passive and waited for his opponents to make mistakes rather than go for winners.

Murray clearly doesn't like the conditions out there, framing alot of shots.

there was a brilliant wrong-footing forehand in the middle of that rally from Murray. More of those please.

Tsonga didn't do at at the net. He did it by launching rockets from the baseline and not missing. That high-risk tennis is unstoppable when the guy is painting the lines, but it is not a very consistent way of playing. Sure you can scalp a few heads launching rockets, buy you won't win any slams without balance.

Whatever you say kid, Tsonga showed an amazing display at net that night. Something no one else ever did against Nadal. I say this as a Nadal fan, not a ridiculous troll fanboy like yourself.

It was pretty unique indeed. He really foced Nadal behind the baseline, and then used amazing drop volleys for outright winners.

Every great player can play all the styles. Murray is not a great player because he hasn't won any slams and also he prefers to counter-punch. Rafa has evolved from counterpunching to being an aggresive baseliner. Murray should stop complaining to the ump. He's is mentally weak.

Is it hard using words without a clue as to what they mean?

Thats it, you take the ****ing initiative, don't wait for Nadal to miss, BECAUSE HE WONT!

Cmon now!

I will agree on this one. Murray using the same strategy as he used against Fed which is fine, Fed will self destruct with UE's. Nadal won't. He's being too passive against the wrong opponent. Nadal played Roddick yesterday who plays not to miss the ball, Murray doing the same thing today. Difference between Roddick and Murray, Murray can crank the ball from the baseline while Roddick doesn't anymore.
