BNP Paribas = Indian Wells. I hate they're cancelling this tournament, it's the best Masters we have. it's even better than RG imo.
It's been doubtful for over a month, Ellison has always taken the cautious approach to things. Even though the Coachella Valley, where IW is held, hasn't had an explosion of COVID cases, the state of California has had 1.6 million cases. It's the prudent move from the billionaire.

Even the billionaires are wusses in America. Australia is ready to put on more events after the AO!

Would points fall of or not?
Most likely. When they first announced the ranking freeze they said that 2019 points will drop in 2021 even if the event is cancelled. At first 2019 WTF were to drop before 2020 edition and in the end they decided to keep them, but I don't think they'll change their minds this time.

Seems like a lot of people are getting out of California these days or maybe I’m listening to Joe Rogan too much :)

Tesla (Elon Musk), Hewlett Packard and Oracle have announced moving out of Silicon Valley to Texas. In 2019 over 1,800 Companies moved out of California. So I guess not is all virus related but Oracle mentioned that the move would provide more flexibility for their employees about how and where they worked. That sounds virus related but that wouldn't explain the other exodus from 2019. Probably too expensive to operate there is factored in.

Quarantine may be a bore, but it produces results: covid-free tennis tournaments.
Like the USO this year? There was a strict quarantine, no fans and an enforced bubble, but there were multiple players who tested positive for COVID there. Short memory, obviously.

Ummmmm....I wonder how many Europeans would fly over for just the one tournament- I appreciate it is not all about the European players of course...I was thinking they might start clay season in Europe earlier than usual - put on extra clay tournaments...Just an idea!
I agree Miami probably won't go forward, but got a lot of pushback here when I stated that ("Miami is a Masters 1000!!! No way will they cancel it!") I argue they will since few would play a HC tourney 2 weeks before Monte Carlo and the clay season. We'll see.

Yeah - just got to wait and see....I think right now all the big stakeholders are trying to work out when exactly AO is on and how that will impact Feb/March....If the likes of Nole, Thiem, etc have had to spend a long time down there/go through a quarantine thenI can’t see them getting back to Europe and then across to Miami for one HC....I could see extra clay tournaments in March in Europe.....

Hoping we all get clarity in next few days....

You mean the USO strict quarantine where one of the hotels was half-filled with players and half-filled with other people? Is that the short memory you're operating with?

They won't go to Miami because the pandemic is still out of control in America and international travel to there is risky. The ATP will eventually release a revised calendar.

Brutal that Indian Wells is cancelled again. That tournament is a tennis lovers paradise and is so well run. It’s amazing just walking around to all of the courts and checking out practice sessions. You don’t need to spend a dime on the main stadium courts and you will still have a blast.

Is it? Haven't seen anything official.
