Can Jelena make a comeback???

I know she has been on the ITF circuit most of this season with little to show for it, but I cant see what her game lacks to be at least a top 20 player?

Whats happened to her, can she come back and what does she need to do in 2006?

i guess she has to want it a lot more, play harder be stronger mentally, try and get back the greatness she had a while back. it is possible to come back mary did it so y can't she. i mean the rankings do go down pretty quick if she can post some great results. Its a lot of hard work but if she wants it, it can happen.

And what greatness are you refering too. The best she ever did in a Major was in 2000 Wimbledon but aside from that. She is generally a 4th Rd Top Off and then she goes away. I use the term Draw Filler for the Players that seem to be satisfied with a 1st or 2nd Rd Showing. Jelena was obviously better than that and had the game to be a spoiler. If a top seed were to let their guard down, Jelena was good enough to take them out. But her heart was always questionable to me. Yes, I miss her on the Tour because she is extremely nice to look at but I never gave her much chance of winning anything.

Her game is very one-dimensional, she used to go out there and slug it out from the baseline, but anyone can do it nowadays. She has no major weapon, her serve is mediocre, she can't volley, all she has is FH and BH, and that is not going to cut it anymore. She is done for. Pity, she is a pleasure to look at.

And I thought I was the only one that noticed ...

I always thought she had a Bo Derek look about her

I feel so sorry for this poor girl. Her problems are all emotional.
She is the most beautiful tennis player. That is all.

It's too bad aboot what's going on with this girl. It seemed like she could win a Grand Slam (I would say the Aussie cause the courts there suited her game best) just a couple of years ago when she was still ranked in the top 10. I wonder if she would still be in the top 20 if she didn't have all that drama to worry aboot. Maybe she's just burned out.

I know this is somewhat of a dumb question because she's not playing anything anymore but before she took her sabatical was she still banning the AO ?

honestly u read too much into things jus meant she was enjoyable to watch and was a great player hence greatness, that all. its a bit harsh but u think what u like. i can remember her having good ground strokes, yes she needed to work a lot harder and things of court with pop didn't help. my point was only that she can get back to the top by working really nothing more

She has indicated in the last year that she'd like to resume her association with Oz in some form. Must seem like a happy time to her now. When Tennis Australia makes some sort of positive response to this idea, the papers fill up with letters inviting her to stay just where she is.;)
(Threads about this before.)
