Has she been in anything good besides Friends? Reading about her new show
Just watched the 1st ep of The Morning Show on Apple TV. Looks promising. Mixed reviews from some critics but real ppl seem to like it. Not at all light. Not a comedy. Looks to be a (somewhat?) political drama. Perhaps a bit of satire? Loosely based on the Matt Lauer incident/story. I'd give the pilot episode an 8/10. IMDb rating of 8.3 for ep 1 but 8.8 for eps 2 & 3.

Appears that you can watch the first 3 episodes for free -- w/o signing up. I think. On the web or with the Apple TV app. After that, you can sign up for a 7-day free trial. (But maybe I have that wrong). And after that, $4.99/month for all Apple TV+ content. For All Mankind, See and other Apple TV originals also look intriguing.

K, I'll bite. Actually shared my list of all-time beauties a couple years ago (in order of birth only, with two additions):

Danielle Darrieux
Deborah Kerr
Jeanne Moreau
Anouk Aimée
Stefania Sandrelli
Madeleine Stowe
Monica Bellucci

My tastes remain more or less the same: not so partial to blonde or black pulchritude, and still prefer chic, ethereal elegance to raw sexuality (the latter probably explains why I've never had much of a paternal instinct). Oh and I usually don't go for cute (Audrey Hepburn's perhaps being the only notable exception), so even the likes of Alba and JLove don't do much for me. Have always preferred more mature ones.

Honorable mentions:

Claudia Cardinale - I'm always tempted to include her only to be stopped by her icy cold stare
Gong Li - (East) Asian is another type that leaves me somewhat cold (yeah I know), but what a babe!
Nicole Kidman - contrary to popular belief (including mine from only two weeks ago) she's actually a natural blonde, but I still like to watch her in anything
Eva Green - ditto my comment on CC

Think that's pretty much it, except maybe for....

Shes good looking but she ain't the best Jennifer. Give me Connelly <3

Connelly was indeed smoking in (John Hughes-penned) Career Opportunities. Have you seen it?

Jenn still gives me something of a next-door vibe so I'm not quite ready to include her among my all-time faves, but yes, arguably the most fetching Jennifer ever.

I was in "The Break", when i was a teenager. They paid me $75 a day to play tennis and eat (extra in background), where i usually played. Was a dream.

Rae Dawn Chong is one of the most beautiful women i ever met. She didnt look real :) Camera doesnt do her justice

Good for you. As you might have guessed Chong isn't exactly my type, but hope you got to take a pic with her at least.

Remembered a respected poster (who shall remain nameless as this convo took place over email) telling me back in July that that Janine Turner is THE most beautiful woman he's ever seen, and while I myself haven't been able to admire her beauty properly (all I can recall is her turn as Stallone's sidekick in Clifthanger) what little I've seen is enough to render my oversight highly questionable. So another honorable mention then.

One more thing (though I should just let it slide)....

I share my "positive emotions" all the time. You just haven't noticed it because you choose to focus on my political leanings which clearly annoy you so much.

I said I hoped you got to take a picture with the actress because you admitted she made a huge impression on you. No need to read more into it.

You volunteer them frequently and randomly, thats the annoying part.

I worked on Turner's crappy Lifetime show in the early 2000s, and didn't think she was all that. Most celebrities aren't as stunning in person as they appear on camera. But I was pretty impressed by Carla Gugino(she was dressed casually and had no makeup on). She really is stunning. And very nice. Turner was not so nice:)

You know, I used to be a big admirer of Carla me-self! Wouldn't go so far as to call it a crush - it's impossible for moi to have such strong feelings for someone I haven't met - but close enough. Still don't think Carly belongs quite up there with those timeless beauties, but I'll think about it some more.

And boo to Ms. Turner for her lack of inner beauty! Was on the fence about her honorable mention to begin with so I'll yank her off the list.

Anyone else in the Graveyard of Dreams that knocked your socks off in person?

Have you seen Haunting of Hill House? Carla is luminous in that:)

Emmy Rossum is impressive in person. Rode an elevator with Michelle Pfeiffer recently. She was on crutches but still looked amazing.

Nah. Never been too keen on horror and plus it's a TV series! But I see that its second season will be based on Henry James' The Turn of the Screw which is not only one of my all-time fave books but also birthed another fave in Jack Clayton's 1961 screen adaptation The Innocents (hey a Deborah Kerr sighting!):

So maybe I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the shout-out.

And Emmy is indeed a fox! Again I normally don't go for cute but maybe I'll give her an honorable mention.

Oh and Michelle has aged more than gracefully. Thought she and Angie rocked the new Maleficent, dunno what the reviewers are (not) seeing. She and Rene Russo have gotta be among the most beautiful sixtysomethings ever.

P.S. Believe it or not I've never been quite floored by Raquel Welch. Call me what you will but I prefer my women with an air of modesty and mystery.

''Forget about it is like if you agree with someone, you know, like Raquel Welch is one great piece of ass, forget about it. But then, if you disagree, like A Lincoln is better than a Cadillac? Forget about it! you know? But then, it's also like if something's the greatest thing in the world, like mingia those peppers, forget about it. But it's also like saying Go to hell! too. Like, you know, like "Hey Paulie, you got a one inch pecker?" and Paulie says "Forget about it!" Sometimes it just means forget about it.''

What about in Dennis Hopper's The Hot Spot. What a glorious well-developed body for a 19 year old:

I'm not a big TV person(there's just too much content) but am a fan of the director. Hill House is horror that is in the vein of The Innocents.

Btw Carla was in another of the director's efforts - "Gerald's Game" on Netflix.

Never seen that one. (FYI as a self-taught cinephile I've got many lacunae in my knowledge base, old Hollywood probably being the biggest.) But I've seen the pictures (I think). Jenn was and remains a hottie!

Time is a big factor, yes, but a bigger one for me is that even so-called Peak TV isn't as good as its film siblings. Like I said I don't expect that to change unless and until the best auteurs start taking TV more seriously.

Anyhoo you're definitely wetting my appetite for Hill House. Maybe after I've done playing catch-up with everything, or maybe I should check out Gerald's Game first. (Do plan to go see Doctor Sleep within the next week.)
