John McEnroe during Wimbledon's preview at ESPN earlier today, "So many people admire Roger Federer and believe that he's the greatest tennis player who ever lived, I think that's my opinion. With do respects to players like Rafa and Novak. Roger Federer is really a class of his own."

I wouldn't put much stock into what McEnroe says, he changes his opinion weekly.

If Nadal/Novak happen to win Wimbledon he'll say they're better than Fed ever was, if Murray wins JMac will go on how Murray would have won 10 slams in any other era, if Fed wins he'll be GOAT again, if some tall player like say Delpo wins JMac will claim that an era that will be dominated by tall big hitting/serving players is upon us (evolution of the game) etc.

He is just being sentimental because Federer's best years are gone. He, like many tennis fans, want Federer to win at least one more major before retiring.

Fast forward a few years and Mcenroe will be saying the same thing about Nadal.

Only time will tell. It is doubtful that Novak and Rafa will have the longevity of Roger's stellar years. Roger has had a year-end ranking in the top 10 for 10 years now (and this is his 10 year straight were he's been in the top 3). Novak has had a year-end in the top 10 for 5 years and Rafa has done so for 7 years.
