KBlade 98 w/ a SW of 350???

I know Wilson's quality control is notoriously bad, but according to the iPhone "Swingtool" app, which has proved to be very accurate (up to this point at least), my KBlade 98 is registering a swingweight of 350... The only mod I've done is to add a leather grip, which brought the static weight up to 11.8oz (with dampener and overgrip), with a strung balance of 33.25cm. I just don't understand how it could be this high, and wanted to know if any of you KBlade users have a racquet with an extraordinarily high SW compared to the published specs?

The most interesting thing about it, is that it doesn't feel like 350... My Prestige's are in the 315-321 range, and if I had to guess on the Blade I would say it's somewhere around 335ish

it's b/c it's NOT. How, and frankly, why do you blame Wilson's so called "quality" control for the erroneous 350 SW off your iphone app. That's idiotic, don't you think?

I highly recommend you find a tennis store/facility with an RDC (or equiv.) within a reasonable distance from you. Forget about the stupid iphone app. Wow, if they only had APPS for clear thinking and logic processing, our world would be much better.

I don't think the swing weight would be 350, but in my experience the stock KBlade 98 swings very heavy for it's static weight.

“I highly recommend” that you have all the facts before spouting off “idiotic” things which you don't know about …  The Prestige’s have been measured on an RDC, and the Swingtool app coincides with their measurements.  Several other TT users have also had the same results with it.

Could it be an error in the app, yes it could, but I’m not going to make that conclusion until I can get the Blade to an RDC, which is why I asked if any other Blade owners had a racquet that far outside the box.  Swingtool has never given me an erroneous result before, and considering that I’m using it in the exact same manner, in the same static environment in which all other racquets were measured (accurately) I’m going to assume that it is correct.  Maybe the developer, TT user stoneage, will see this thread and be able to shed some light on any errors that he has found or heard about…

Wow, floydcouncil's post was unwarranted. While I've only demoed the KB98, it didn't seem anywhere near 350 swing weight. Since you have added all the weight at the grip this only changes the balance and static weight, not swing weight correct? I have a Radical that I am adding lead tape under the bumper guard and a leather grip too once my TW shipment comes in. The KB98 and Radical have similar specs and I was expecting to increase the SW by 10-15 points at the most.

I have a leather grip and lead in the handle on my KBlade 98s and I'm pretty sure it doesn't swing higher than 330. This case does sound like an error for the app. 350 sw would be rather beastly.

I just put in the amounts I will add to my Radical and where into the TW customization reverse engineering tool and came up with 332.2 SW. So I'm thinking one of three things: failed app, horrid QC or its a fake. You didn't state where you got the KB but most fakes tend to be HH, but then again they also tend to be light and your static weight with a leather grip seems to be right. Good luck and I hope you are able to figure this out.

It's definitely not a fake, picked it up from my local authorized shop. I just remeasured the balance point and my initial measurement was off, using the new spec I'm now getting s SW of 345. Still rather high but if you consider the +/- 5% tolerance and the added weight it's a more realistic number

I had someone sell me a kblade and he said the measured sw on a machine was 340, and my other kblade is slightly above the norm as well.

I had to add weight to the butt to make it more manoeuvrable and i actually like it the way it is now as I have two different racquets, (i don't need exact copies for match play).

So yes your racquet is not abnormal, esp with leather. Moreover it's around the sw of the current blx blade.
