I just got my knee surgery done today!:)

It involved athroscopy, and the docotr sanded down my knee cartiliage. Anyone have a similar situation? How long did it take you to recover?

With a scope you are looking at 4 months on the quick end. You will have 6 weeks to heal and can probably get on the court in 3 months, but your leg will be incredibly weak. It will shake when you try to stand on it for long periods of time.

If you work out everyday, so even on your days off and do you exercises twice a day you could possibly make it, but you will not be 100%. It took me almost a year to really get full strength back, but I had a tibial tubercle osteotomy on top of the scope.

It will be really important to ice after all your exercise though. Especially with the scope. You will feel some difference in knee tracking for sure.

Congratulations! The worst is over.

I rushed back to tennis. I came to regret it.

Take your time, let yourself heal. Ice a lot, as Teyko says.

I worked on my serve a lot during that period. It got a lot better!

I think if it was just a 'sanding to smooth' process, you may find that the recovery is MUCH quicker that Teyko is suggesting.

Listen to your surgeon, and your phsyio, and they'll guide you through it, but from memory when they *thought* that was what I'd have done to my knees they were predicting fast recovery times, and from memory when my physio did have that done he recovered quickly himself.

I'm not going to go into my surgery and recovery as it was very different to yours, as will be the case for many other people too. Remember that there are dozens of different knee ops and dozens of recover times, the good news for you (from my memory only) is that I think your op is one of the quickest to recover from.

Good luck.

Good Luck. I know what it is like to go under the knife. Take care of yourself. That's what is most important.
