Lead Tape on Wilson's rubberized paint?

Has anyone put lead tape on the rubberized paint of a Wilson frame yet? If so, have you taken it off? I just received my PS97 (Black w/Orange) and plan on adding some lead to 12 o'clock where the paint is black rubber. I have a weird feeling that if I decide to take it off or replace it in the future that the paint will tear right off. Even if I heat it up with a hair dryer first. Does anyone have any experience with this yet?

I was in the playtest for the new RF97a with the rubber pain and put weight at 12pm and 3&9. I removed it and traded it in to TW. They took it because the paint was fine. Only had it a while so no idea long term but short term no issues for me

i do not use lead, but I always get weights under the grommets / bumper-kit = stays / cleaner

Can you do that without wasting a set of grommets? I was planning to put the lead under the bumper whenever I need new grommets - but these things last a pretty long time.

depends...some come out/off easier that others... also for 5-8 bucks...well worth it for a fresh set..

I peeled the tape off of 12 o'clock and the paint is fine, but then again I'm one of the lucky fews whose RF97 is tank-proof.

There's been quite a few accounts of the paint disintegrating if you just looked at it wrong.

I had no issues no with lead peeling off paint. I did however have issues having the lead stick on to the rubberized paint.

hi TM

i use a lot of leadtape on the 2017 red and black PS97 at 3,6,9 and 12 oclock
also put leadtape on my older 2015 PS 97s.
smooth the leadtape on to make sure it sticks ok, in the past when i didnt do this
the leadtape came off in the middle of a point
i use a wallpaper seam roller

i dont think that the leadtape will take off the paint, as i had to replace the leadtape on the racquets
after a few restrings, as the frame distorts when stringing, and the tape tends to delaminate
if not put on correctly

I put in 15 grams from 10:00 to 2:00 and they're still there. So I don't know. But I've had peeling problems with paint on my Prestige MPs. My philosophy is that frames are meant to be used and wear and tear is just part of the game.
