Leather grip usage

Hi, everyone.
So, first of all sorry for another leather grip thread. I know there’s a bunch, but they didn’t cover all my questions and I didn’t feel like reviving a thread at least three years old.
I’ve never used a leather grip before and every time I had to replace my base/cushion grip I went with Gamma Ultra Cushion. I really like it.
I just bought a second-hand Aero 98 and it’s coming with a leather grip installed, so I started to wonder if I should replace it.
What are the clear advantages and disadvantages of a leather grip? I plan on use an overgrip either way. Does it worsen sweat absorption?

Leather grips help you feel the bevels of the racquet better, add weight to the handle making it more head light, and give you a more connected feel to the racquet.

I don't know about your specific cushion grip, but in general cushion grips are more on the end of the spectrum helping to absorb more vibration to help prevent/heal from injury, resulting in a less connected feel and less noticeable bevels.

One isn't necessarily better than the other, it's really just based on preference. Personally, I love leather grips (still use an overgrip) and haven't looked back since I first tried one.

Does the leather grip affect sweat absorption?
As per the bevel feeling enhancement, could it also be achieved by simply using an overgrip directly applied to the handle, then maybe wrapping another overgrip on it?

I have not noticed a difference in sweat absorption, not sure if others do or not though.

Yes, that would also get better bevel feel that way. But keep in mind that 1) overgrips are generally thinner than replacement grips, so that would decrease the grip size, 2) replacement grips are generally flat, but when you put on an overgrip there's usually ridges where there's overlap, so putting an overgrip over that would change how it feels, and 3) it would probably be a harsher feel because, while the leather is firmer than a replacement grip, there's still more material there than if you replaced it with an overgrip. None of that is necessarily bad, they're just things to keep in mind if that's what you want to do.

Also:

Leather also lasts much longer than any Kush type grip. Most likely last the lifespan of the racquet (grommets become obsolete if you don’t plan ahead).

Try the one you have first, then decide. The TW house brand leather grips will suffice for most wanting that feel.

The one on my racquet is supposedly 0.8mm. Does it surely weights more than conventional synthetic grip, say Gamma Ultra Cushion? I’ve heard both yes and no.

Is it a Kimony leather grip then? To my knowledge it's the only leather grip so thin. It's not very heavy either, I think 13 grammes uncut but I haven't checked recently.

Comfort? If you like cushioned grips, you may not like it, especially since it's very thin. You can wrap an overgrip on it, it's what most people do with leather grips (including me) and see if you like it better. Better for absorption too, as always with OGs.

Feel? As a fellow poster pointed out above, it's where all leather grips usually shine.

Ultimately it's always a very personal choice.

So, I played with it today. Did not like it. Maybe because it’s too thin, but I didn’t vine with the feel of the handle. Uncomfortable and felt like the racquet could fly away. And I used an OG on top.
