Looking to upgrade from old Pure Drive team

I've been playing with an old Pure Drive team for the last 10 years and figure, if Nadal and Federer are upgrading racquets, maybe I should look into it.

The Pure Aero looks like the obvious choice. I almost chose the aeropro drive over the pure drive way back in the day, but I went with the PD since the APD felt tinny and had a bit less power.

What are the equivalents from Yonex and Head? And how is the new Pure Drive? It doesn't seem popular on this board.

Back in the day, the Pure Drive team was the most popular racquet on tour. What is now?

There's a very good chance that's what I'll do actually. Thanks for the advice. I never switched because I never found anything better. The upgrades were not as good (cortex, etc.), but I haven't tried the newest ones or pure aero. For the past few years I've been out of the loop completely (haven't played at a club) and older pros are just starting to switch frames, which has peaked my interest.

If they're still in good condition then keep them. I'm still playing with my PD team plus. There's no performance advantage to switching

Well you can demo the latest ones for curiosity (mind that it killed the cat), but if yours are in good condition, you're satisfied with them and you can find grommets for them, by all means keep them.

I thought most people on the board preferred the swirly paint job...before the team paint job?

IMO there is a bias love towards the swirly on the boards because Roddick used it throughout his career. I found the swirly was unstable, especially for a 330sw. The PD team (non swirly) corrected that issue while still giving it the same raw feel.

FWIW, I really liked the 2015 pure drive and found it to have better control than the APD or Pure Aero. In stock form, it's tough for me to feel the head on volleys. The pure aero is more powerful in my opinion. It is better on volleys but can be uncontrollable. It has less feel than the previous PD or APD...if thats possible

PD swirly was was my favorite. Leaded it up and it feels amazing. Hard to find these days but dude if you have been hitting with the PD team for a decade don't change. One of my favorite frames hands down.

Alright I'll stick with the PD team. And yes they're in excellent condition. I've never damaged any racquet.

And yeah one of the things I didn't like about, for example, the cortex PD was the loss of feel. I don't play with a dampener and I don't like the muted sound/feel of cortex and similar racquets.

The swirly PD I never tried. I think it's identical, just without the woofer system.

Was the swing weight really 330? I didn't think it was that high.

If I used any standard pure drive, no matter what iteration. I'd add weight via lead, leather grip, using something to fill the handle. So I'm sure any of them would feel ok.

One of my hitting partners bought a couple used 2012 standard pure drives. I hit with them and was surprised how solid they felt. No pinging and surprisingly didn't feel that hallow, if at all.

Sorry I was referring to the plus version. The standard was 318 sw

As others have said keep it if its still playable. I've also played with every reiteration of the pure drive and nothing beats the feel of the PD team. I'm in search for more PD+ team.

Agreed with this. Played with one that had the old lux alu power too. I've never hit so hard and it didn't bother my shoulder at all like some of the newer Babolats do.

You shouldn't. I tried many racquets and now playing with an old PDT and it is my most reliable racquet for the match day. If you still feel itchy to try others, keep your PDT and don't be fooled by the honeymoon period with the other racquet.

nice looking frame. What year is it? Are grommets hard to find?
