What a fantastic smile in the face of Maria when she won the tournament in Italy. She is like a PHOENIX reborn from her ashes of dozens of injuries. But she has made it!!!!.She has overcome all her problems and there she was greeting her fans in the middle of the court like in the old days...
She has played fantastically good and on some moments she was better as the old Sharapova with more sparks in her play. She won the final after beating on straight sets our beatable number one Miss Caroline in the semis...
CHEERS MARIA!!!! ALL OF US WISH YOU TO WIN ROLAND GARROS BECAUSE YOU CAN MAKE IT!!!!

It is fine for you to be happy for her win, but the chances of MS winning the FO are slim to none. Look at her record there (a SF finish in '07), then add age and her physical limitations into the mix...

eeee yeah but.....given the current field, this is her best chance to do it.

ID bet 5 bucks.

Im not saying Maria is lock but, if she can keep her head together, and if she doesnt have to face someone like Schiavone...this is probably her best chance.

the field is so weak right now, why not??

Damn you are right....if she won the FO, she'd have the career slam.

Somethingn about that just irritates me but, it would be an achievment so, there it is.

Im glad to see she is hitting and moving well again.
After retooling her game to be more modern, she had some injuries that prevented it all coming together. I do hope she can continue this level to fight for the FO championship. That title would really improve her standing in the alltime ranking for the ladies.

I used to dislike her few years ago but now watching she plays with mute is on quite entertaining. She's like Nadal of the ATP.. fighting hard, tough on every points.. look at other WTA players choke quite a joke..

Yeah she is like nadal...except you know, the footwork, movement and stamina
:)

But seriously, I know what you mean. If nothing else is working , mentally she never goes away, and with the mental midgets atop the WTA at the moment, she has every chance to bag ths FO.

In this case she will steamroll every french junior or senior she will have in front of her...she will squeeze him as mashed potatoes and she will leave the pile there in the oponents field.
It is your wish also because she plays the best tennis around and you will have no other choice...

In this moment she is the best player around and she has enough stamina to continue. The only player that can stop her is herself...
As the Boxers jargon says she is the best player ''POUND TO POUND'' on the circuit.FO FOR SHARAPOVA THIS YEAR,AND PERHAPS ALSO WIMBLEDON...

I like The Mashinator and think she has as good a chance as any to win the French. It's wide open for the taking this year.

Maria is a great competitor, pretty girl and fabulous business woman. Still hurts to watch her avoid hitting overheads but it does seem like she is serving much better.

Question for you Masha watchers: Do you think Sasha Vujacic knows anything about tennis or is he just sitting at these matches thinking, "Damn, wish I was still playing this time of year. Oh well, can't wait to have sex with Masha after this stupid match is finally over."

He watched the match in the TV set of a neighbour accross the street,so he didnt realize what was happening...he lost to see Maria at her best,so he won nothing...

Ummm...since when is Sam Stosur the barometer of the WTA?

As for beating Wozniacki well...she tends to struggle with the big hitters.

Masha at her best....roflmao.

Under more 'normal' circumstances, I still wouldn't love her chances at winning theFrench Open. However, given the complete lack of anyone else to actually have confidence in, it's harder to discount her chances.

I totally agree. I still see a FO loss on a day when she's struggling with her serve or some clay-court knowledgeable player gets her moving a lot. So, I'm not going to be surprised if she doesn't win.

But, as you stated, "given the lack of anyone else to actually have confidence in," I don't think she'll ever have a better chance at the French Open.

Obviously, the draw matters tremendously. If she gets a lot of fellow baseline bashers (which is a lot of players these days), she has a great chance.

Her prospects moving forward to grass and summer hardcourts are obviously even better as she regains confidence.

Clijsters is playing the French so that obviously means she will win. Clijsters is also pretty much certain to win the U.S Open this year. Wimbledon is the only open slam.
