GoldenSwing
Rookie
Forehand
- Is a straight arm swing combo of Federer and Nadal's.
- Uses Federer's stance
- Uses Nadal's swing and lasso whip occasionally
- Compared to next gen he uses the "Modern" takeback which is more flexible in a variety of situations (All of the big 3 use this takeback)
Backhand
- Primarily uses the closed stance very similar to Djokovic
- Takeback and closing of racquet are also similar to Novak
- One of the few players who can do a open stance sliding backhand on any surface
- Backhand slice seems okay at the moment, but it is a great defensive shot
Net Play and Variety
- Not hesitant in coming to the net to end points or mix up rallies
- Has a great drop shot for a player his age
- Volleys can still use work, but this is a never ending process for a tennis player. I already consider him a better volleyer than Med or Zverev
Movement/Athleticism
- Tenacious and explosive movement, as I noted earlier, he can slide on all surfaces
- Can defend well, lateral movement is phenomenal
- Upwards movement is also solid
- Will have to watch his movement for possible injuries with emphasis on flexibility/mobility training as to not derail his career
His biggest weakness is his serve. Doesn't score a lot of aces with it, nor does he place it well. A player of his height should consider switching to a platform serve for more control. All sub 6-footers who have had a great serve mainly use a platform (Sampras, Fed, Djokovic).
Shot selection can also use work. There's a time and place to blast a shot/end a rally. I predict he will improve significantly in this department however. This will boost his consistency.
Minimum: 5-6 Grandslams. The sky is the limit for this guy if he has proper coaching, works even more on his mental game (already solid imo), and is motivated. What I am saying is that he is a combination of all of the big three. It seems a bit poetic to use them as a comparison metric, but his form is really similar to them if you watch him play.
This is more of a scouting report on his technical abilities which are GRADE A.
