Mauresmo +160 vs. Sharapova -170

Oddsmakers have Sharapova as the favorite but Mauresmo has a 2-0 record against her. I like Amelie in 3 sets.

I voted for Sharapova, because I dont see her hiccuping at this point. I think it would be great if Mauresmo could pull out the whole tournament, even better if she could beat Henin-Hardenne in the final and get her back for the Australian open final, but Mauresmo is such a basket case in the later stages of tournaments that I see Sharapova going for the jugular and not letting go. I want one of them to win the whole thing, I dont want either to have the label of "one slam wonder." Clijsters I could really care less about, I only want Henin Hardenne to beat her so hopefully HH will be beaten in the final.

I agree that we are going to get a rematch of the Australian Open but this time...Justine finishes the match and wins the title.

Sharapova's 'power' is deceptive... when the opponent isn't amongst the top hitters she easily dictates with powerful and deep drives, generating excellent pace and not having to move too much around the baseline. When she faces someone with good groundies, such as Dementieva or Mauresmo she cannot dictate nearly as well, her shots don't land with as much depth and she's not as accurate on the run. Plus, her shrieks also appear to make her shots look like they are hit harder than they actually are.

Mauresmo has the better game but she's been known to choke a lot more often than Maria. So I could see Maria winning in 3.

I don't think Mauresmo can handle Sharapova's power on the grass. Her swings are too loopy and she will be hitting lots of balls late.

Sharapova is overrated, imo! She is useless at the net, worse the Roddick and gets outplayed by Mauresmo atm - if she doesn't know what to do she just bashes the ball harder and harder - the only thing she has is, that she is a fighter, but that's all!

Definitely another great win for Amelie. Although she was all over Maria through the first set and a half, i'm calling this one a great win simply because she didn't allow her nerves to get to her. Great shotmaking, excellent strategy against the orgasma-shrieker. She deserved it.

That's just her game, she can't construct points well and close them out at the net or change up the pace with a slice. She goes for broke all the time...boring to watch, uneffective against the top players and way to error prone to be succesful consistently! If she don't ad a few shots (mainly BH slice) and get at least a decent volley, she won't win another GS, imho!
