No idea what Joyce makes. But if he thinks the grass is greener somewhere else, he should make the jump. But as the old saying goes, "Be careful what you ask for..." The title Coach may look cool - but if your player is getting knocked out early, hitting coach may start looking pretty cool.

He's called the hitting partner presumably because that's his job - to hit with Maria.

Yuri is called the coach because he's the one that coaches Maria - suggests what to work on, gameplans, tactical help, helps direct practices.

Regardless of how smart a hitting partner is or how unqualified a coach is, that does not make a hitting partner into a coach. "Coach" and "hitting partner" are descriptions of what the people DO, not what their "qualifications" are.

Yes, but Michael Joyce gets the job of signalling to her with a cup that she should have a drink.

I dont think hitting partners should get credited too much, i mean its their job right and it should be a piece of cake hitting with Sharapova or any other wta players if you were a former atp player. Even top ranked juniors(boys) can rally with them no problem.
