Middle States and Eastern 4.0 Sectionals Predictions

The DD 3-2 win had each court as expected, no upsets. Every winning player/pair has ratings over 4.0, three of the five losing players/pairs were under 4.0

Both teams should be rested both playing their first/only match of the day tomorrow, how will it play out?

The simulation gives the edge to DD, but it is really close with DD having an advantage on a singles court, AMD on a doubles court, the rest really close. Line-ups and match-ups will matter.

AMD also has to worry about their two appeal rated players stroking out

How strong are these two teams compared to previous middle states sectionals winners?

Nice that the Delaware team actually played two guys who live in Delaware in that match with NJ.

Also blows my mind the #1 singles guy for NJ was a 3.5 last year.

@schmke curious if you could share if MN from the PATD 3.5 is close to being disqualified or if TR was just really wrong on his opening rating?
Oaf! TR says he would have had at least 4 strikes before this weekend! Clearly that was wrong.

I did not have him that high, some risk sure, but nothing like TR has.

New jersey upset PATD to win 3. 5 sectionals. PATD was probably the much stronger team, what did your rating say?

I played on the AMD team, how do we look up strikes?
You can't. You'll find out if you get 3, but they run a strike report after the end of every match at sectionals, so if you were going to have anyone DQ'd, it would have happened this morning.

AMD has played mostly their top players. PATD tried to play against that with three of their five lowest rated players. Line-ups matter.
I'm not sure who you have as "3 of their 5 lowest rated players", but I can guarantee that they didn't use 3 of the 5 weakest players on their roster. They are all well versed in ratings management on that team, so the ratings were clearly disjointed from actual ability. The only one of the players in the lineup who might be one of their 5 actual weakest players is their captain. The others were fairly close to their top lineup. If you want to see who the strongest players are on the team, look at their lineups vs my team and in districts.

In singles, one of the HS kids didn't play at all (presumably at college orientation or something). That left the MMA guy and the other kid as their top singles players. They both played. In D1, one of the guys has played D1 or D2 in every one of their key matches. He is a very good doubles player. His partner has been one of his two regular partner in those matches. D2 was the captain and their doubles ringer, a young guy who played D3 just a couple years ago, who have played together semi-regularly for two years. D3 was their ringer 4.5 S-rate appeal who was a winning 4.5 before he stopped playing who only this team could get a successful appeal for, and a guy who had been a 4.5 captain for several years before appealing down last year. There are a couple of their best guys missing, but I assure you, that was not a weak lineup for them.
